is this ugly? I have wood handguards on it becasue my synthetic set for it are loose and wobble from side to side and workt hemselves free. The wood stock isnt on there, because the screw thats holding it in place is marred and not threaded anymore, I cant back it out. I love the NATO length stock anyhow, its 100% better for me, the short pull of warsaw pact isnt good enough. Is this combo ugly or is it ok?

Not really....though I think a plumb stock/grip set would clash less with the wood than the black does.

if I could remove that screw id take the stock off...if the handguards wernt wobbling then id put them back on....

try using some JB weld on them to build up the handguards and make it fit the receiver and gas tube properly, obviously wait until it dries prior to attempting to install, unless you want them to fit perfectly forever |

Ive got bayonets..just no lugs  NY State...remember Im going to try some Easy Outs on the screw problem, hopefully i can get it out, and get the wood stock on there. |

You could always stain the handguards black and put a flat top coat on it. Then it would be a closer match to the butt stock.
Just a thought. |

I have 3 sets of wood furniture that I can use on it (2 are spares). I just need to back that darned screw out, so I can remove the buttstock, then im in business. I just sold a new Kvar nato length stock set to a guy from the forums today..speaking of which. Paint it black? Hell no, may as well chuck this perfectly good wood...the finish on it is really nice, its just a crappy pic that I took haha |

Hey, if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid!
I'm sure the way you have it set up, with the added weight of the drum in the center, it should balance and handle quite comfortably. Call me old-school, but my '74 (my only AK) is set up like a good ol' first-run AK74, just like the ones the men in my father's generation carried in the middle east durring the 80's. |
