Go down to the auto parts store and get a tube of Slick-50 one grease, it is the best I have found for Garands and M1A's. One tube is about $5.00 and will last a lifetime. It lubes as well if not better, stays on well in a downpour, and doesn't get all loose under the heat of prolonged rapid fire like some greases do.
Forget a bipod, get a good leather sling and learn to use it, and learn to shoot off of rocks, rucks, stumps, trees etc. as well as unsupported using the sling. Your skills will be better, and if you are in a situation where seconds count the shooter who can drop and shoot will be faster than the one who has to unfold and adjust his bipod.
I like my synthetic stock, it camoed up easily, doesn't swell when the weather changes, and if it gets dinged up (hard to do anyway) Fred has em cheap.
