1st Garand for me. 2.6 million SA and I love it. I'm definately going to clean up the stock and make it a thing of beauty. I also got PMC 30/06 in the Korean boxes, PS 75 headstamp. Is this stuff corrosive?

Well, no need to strip it down entirely and wash it out with water and soap if I don't have to. The reason I ask is because I've heard both.

there's only one way to find out for sure, pop a primer over a nail and see if it rusts

All you have to do is set it muzzle down on a folded paper towel and fill the barrel with cheap ass windex.

Drain and Repeat.

Wipe bolt face with paper towel soaked in cheap ass windex.

Clean as usual.

Some of the PS75 explodes and will wreck your M1, though.

The KA (70s) is partly corrosive, with no way to tell which is which.
The KA (80s) is not corrosive.

The KA (any year) will not blow your rifle up.

$675. Little high, but excellent wood, and a mirror bore (you could shave in there). The bore looks brand new, never been fired. Plus I can't get one through the CMP, so I'm happy with it.

I know at least three people personally,and have heard from others, that their batch of PS75 blew their stock apart and damaged metal parts of the rifle. The issue is radial cracks around the case head that let go, venting gas directly into the action.

Supposedly the problem can be caught by visual inpsection prior to firing. The damage seems to be caused by over-crimping the primers, cracking the case head.

How's that?

I have one at home, but no pics of it.
It should be available in the 'net somewhere, there have been a bunch of these.

Yes, it is pretty simple, get a magnifier and look for cracks around the primer. I would think long and hard before using anything in the lot numbers posted.

N, that's a good thing. The "positive reports" means that there has been a failure; no one has reported yours as dangerous.

There was a later post that had 180 listed with no reported problems. I would still inspect it.

imo, 675 is not too much for what you got.
