Hey, I was just wondering if some people who join or are already members of ARFCOM are interested in making friends with other members of the firearms and military community.  Like, I wonder if anybody has found their best friend, shooting buddy, etc, through ARFCOM.  Also, do we have any ARFCOM members who work for the Federal Govt ?  I'm looking at a govt job right now so I can move out and I was having some difficulty with the paperwork and stuff.  Any replies to this are welcome, esp insightful, intelligent replies.  Mods/Staff, if you feel this belongs best in the Team forum, please feel free to move it,

I've made tons a friends here. What can I say. People are just drawn to me. It's been that way all my life. Call it charisma, personality, whatever. I'm just a warm type of people person. I've often been told that the room lights up when I walk in.

You know that warm glow your screen gives off time to time while posting on arfcom? That's me logging on. Well, I've got to check another thread and make someone else's day. See you later buddy.

A young team member introduced me to his mom one evening.  We ended up liking each other right off the bat.  A real nice classy lady.  Her son the one who introduced us is a bit um... strange though.

We are still having trouble getting him to do his homework and take out the trash.  He spends most of his time online.

Was just seeing what you guys would say.  *shrugs* I have a girlfriend (she's a conservative libertarian) who I see every weekend or so and plan on moving in with sometime next year if all goes well.  Her friends are now my friends.  I admit I do have trouble finding friends because of being into guns and being conservative (I'm a republican with some strong libertarian leanings).  It's extremely liberal around here and if anybody finds out you're not liberal or a democrat, you'll be cut off socially.  Oh yeah, and people here who have communist or socialist leanings are welcomed with open arms, too  I went to a gunshow with eshell back in July, went pretty good, not too many weirdos around, but I did see some of the weird gun show commandos around and no, I wouldn't be looking to be friends with them Where do most of you go to socialize ?  No, I didn't start this thread to be an idiot or to whine, I just wanted to see what response I'd get from ARFCOM and to see how people around here feel about the subject of friendship and social interaction.

Social interaction should be BANNED!! 87! times.....

I am sure Markm will be along shortly to call you a fr00t! or something....

My wife and I have friends that know nothing about guns, politics, or anything substantive, if you ask me.

We need new friends if you ask me.

It is tough finding that right mix and many times I feel like we (really me) kinda "go along to get along".

We have fun, just wish our friends weren' t so....weird.

Hey now, what'd you have to go and call Kacer a guy for ? And yes, I like pie, my g/f knows I like pie, my g/f and I even talked about pie the other day when we went grocery shopping.  I told her I like her pie and she just smiled and then I had her pie when we got home after that Her friends are good people just to hang out with, good to drink with, but I can't say they'd have our backs if the SHTF.  In fact, lately, my g/f has been bothered by that.  She feels her friends aren't being real with her, and I can see where she's coming from.  Anybody have thoughts on where to find people who actually give a damn about each other ?

I didn't plan on it but when I was asking about ranges in another part of NY back in 2001, one of the local members said he would meet me there with another member and we all talked, sent some rounds downrange and just got along really well. Now the 'NY crew' is like a big family, I don't get out as often as I like but when I do the guys are always great to hang out with, and we always have a good time.

I've also met members in PA at my local range out there, also very good guys who I would always make time for when I'm out there.

There are a few guys that I met only once but they left a positive impression and I would not hesitate to hang out with them again.

Then there are a number of members here that I consider friends, which I have only interacted with via this board, email, IM's, and phone conversations. I would like nothing more than to send some rounds downrange with them, or just hang out.

Well, you know my wife and I are on opposite shifts and well, I have a little free time, ya know, if you'd like to meet up for a beer or something manly like that.  I mean, just to talk manly stuff, but not about feelings or Gladiator movies or anything like that, unless you want to, of course.

Nah, I was kinda sketched talking about guns at work, since it seemed like the people there only talked about shooting it just to shoot them didn't have no real interest.  Until I saw that Gunbert liked guns, I like guns then all of a sudden Wolfpack and Gunbert are leading me to some F-ed up desert trail to go shooting.  And, that was that.  I bought my first AR from this board.  Got over the Glock KABOOM fear and bought a Glock 30.  Bought a XD40 when it wasn't that "popular", was convicned to get my Curios and Relics and bought my first Mosin M38.  Bought a few nicknacks from some other Nevada board members in the past as well.  Been to a few of the local meets that the pool man Wolfman has hosted.  So, yeah I guess you can say I've met some good people on this board.  So all is not lost, Now to just buy a Team Membership so I get to see all the hidden porn that is supposedly in the Team Member Forum.

ETA:  I've been to Gunberts wedding, Chiz45's work ( to buy some accessories), Blister's house to buy my AR and a Mossy 500, met Ugmo at a Chevron to buy a mossy barrel, Bought 7.62x54R ammo from RickInVegas, bought a cotter pin from LarryG36, Unstuck some brass from an Ar15.com edition rifle that was won from RedDobie while on a night shoot.  Wife came out to some of the desert shoots and met some nice people and shot some class III as well.  Went to SHOT show and met some of the  out of state people too. So, I have seen people face to face on this board.  So what if I don't have 8000+ posts here....Everyone I've met so far has been friendly- good thing they all didn't run when they found out  I was selling Life Insurance... I'm out of the insurance biz now, so, it's safe
