According to the WHO, a condom is considered 90+ percent effective in preventing pregnacies and contracting STDs with proper use.

So assuming that you use it as directed, you will be ok. However, as a caveat, know also that there is a very slim chance that things can go wrong as it is not 100% fool proof.

[dirty harry] So, do you feel lucky, punk? [dirty harry]

Been a while since I used one, but Lifestyles are made overseas.  I think Durex are as well.  Both are good brands.

Can you write how you did that.  A short essay would be fine.

The latex gloves here in the lab are made in Malaysia.  I think the last box of Lifestyles I bought were made there as well.

Probably hard to find anything latex not made overseas anymore.

Heck, Vandelay Industries was in the import/export business.

I know at least 2 guys who contracted herpes while wearing condoms. In both cases, the girls appear to have had sores on their external genitalia, which rubbed up against the guys’ crotch and gave them herpes.

Heck, I didn't even know women needed convincing to go on BC?  A lot of women enjoy the errr...regularity of the pill (or other forms).  Hell, my little sister went on the pill long before she started having sex (that's my story and I'm sticking with it anyway).

Herpes sores can be difficult to spot, even in good light and when sober.

I guess I'm one of the lucky few that never got any sort of STD.

Herpes are not just spread from bumping uglies. If he/she has mouth herpes and performs orally on his/her partner that person inturn will contract genital herpes.but chances are more likely that you will catch mono first.

While in college I had friends which after a few drinks would sleep with pretty much anything with two legs. I have heard lots of stories of people getting stds or knocked up but everyone that I know of admits that they didnt wear a condom at the time. I watched a Bunny Ranch special where the whores probably banged a dozen guys a day and they where required to use condoms and they have yet to have any pregnancies or STD's reported. Are they really that safe?

I don't know, the first and last time I used one it fell off. I had to dig it out with my fingers.

In any event its a gamble with your life.  I mean think if it breaks.  Just get tested get your girl tested then screw your brains out and don;t cheat. It can take some STDs up to ten years to show any symptoms whatsoever.  It can also take that long for say Syhpillis, to show up on a test.  It can just sit there, for years, dormant, then pop up for no reason.  That being said, you don't live forever, get tested, get your girl tested, then screw your brains out and don't cheat.

Typical use effectiveness. Typical use effectiveness varies greatly in various studies and among groups within studies. For example, DHS data suggest pregnancy rates per 100 first-year condom users of over 16 in Egypt, almost 6 in Indonesia, and over 8 in Thailand (20). The estimated typical pregnancy rate among condom users in the US is about 14 per 100 women. This rate is higher than for most other methods (367, 537, 538). www.infoforhealth.org/pr/h9/h9chap4.shtml

The most convincing evidence of condom effectiveness comes from studies of HIV-discordant couples—couples in which one partner is infected with HIV and the other is not (166, 557). Studies of such couples have found low risks of HIV infection among consistent condom users (22, 166, 167, 177, 311, 378, 416, 557). In three recent studies infection rates were less than 1% per year among consistent condom users (134, 141, 473). A multicountry European study of 256 HIV-discordant couples followed for an average of 20 months found that not one infection occurred among such couples using condoms during every sex act (134).www.infoforhealth.org/pr/h9/h9chap4_2.shtml

So I guess the answer is very effective for preventing Aids but not so good for preventing pregnancy.

I read 75% effective when used right - perhaps spermicide is pushing it up to 90% - but there are some side effects reported on spermacide.

I cried the day I was told I would need to start using them again (too many side effects from the pill), but ended up getting laid a lot more often, so it turned out to be a trade off.

Use Lubricant, inside and outside the condom - it will really help with sensitivity.  Before I started putting lube on the inside it felt like I was trying to get laid through a leather work glove - could not feel anything.  (and use real lubricant - not KY - use astroglide or wett or something like that)

Some condoms are more sensitive than others.  Most of the standard US ones are not on this list.  Japanise condoms seem to be somewhat better.  But then again, that was when I started putting on lub inside the condom.

Used properly involves squeezing bubble out of the reservour tip - that is your most likely point of failure.

Rember one time I made a water ballon out of a used condome (I used it and cleaned it afterward).  Scared the shit out of me when I saw a tiny stream of water squirting out of it.  Will never try that experiment again.

crown Current personal favorite.

Exactly!!!!

Guys listen. Condoms protect the female, but not the male. The vast majority of STDs are transmitted by body fluids. Condoms will prevent your body fluids from coming in to contact with the female, but her fluids will still get all over balls and crotch.

The only thing you should consider a condom is pregnancy protection. If you aren't worried about getting her pregnant, then you may as well toss the condoms aside.
