I had a buddy come by with a brand new sigma 380 W/2 mags and the box .

$275, is the sigma a good pistol? not much on the looks.

anyone own one or shot one?

What were your thoughts

I personally don't care for anything S&W Sigma, the hinged trigger sucks.

Sigma is S&W's "Loss-Leader" entry level brand IMHO.

Get a used XD-9 (or, gasp Glock).
Slightly bigger, much better.

absolute POS
limited life span (70 boxes of ammo)
need a hammer and punch to disassemble
in .380
and @ $275.... well, that's just wrong

I had a couple of the 9mm Sigma pistols and they always worked well… it is just a damn Glock with a different trigger.

The .380 Sigma IS NOT the same pistol… it is designed for limited life. Stay away.

I had a neighbor that owned one(.40). It quit working and and I asked him what it was doing. He said he would feel completely comfortable loading it and pulling the trigger. This was in his house. I examined it and found the striker so fouled up in its channel it was difficult to move with my fingers.

Don't insult real guns by paying that much.

Thanks for the info , doesn't sound like it's for me.

doesn't really feel that good in the hand or like there's any kind of real quality to it.

The .40 Sigma which is just a Glock dressed up differently has nothing to do with the .380 Sigma the are 2 completely different designs

Added: I've seen a lot of Sigma's, mostly at crime scenes around Tulsa and OKC.

They seem to be the choice of Homey's...just my .02, nothing more...

Look at the Bersa .380. I have heard and read a lot of good reviews from people who own them. I'm actually thinking of picking one up.

My grandfather has one, and let me give it a try. Not the most accurate gun, but goes bang every time I pull the trigger.

Another .380 choice is the kel-tec. I have one, and with a little work on the feed ramp, the damn thing is awesome. Thin as hell too.

I do have to say, Kel-tec is known for their great customer service too... Free recoil springs for life!

at least with locrin/HiPoint you know what you're getting. With the Sigma, it's a Smith and Wesson, supposedly a reputable manufacturer

I fired a .380 Sigma one once. (Not entirely voluntarily I might add. My agency had a seized one that was going to be used in a trial and the prosecuting attorney insisted we verify that the thing could actually be fired - apparently he had his doubts).

It didn’t blow up in my hands.

But it really is a piece of junk.

The Sigma 380 is not a great gun by any imagination, but it isn't "that" bad. It isn't designed to have a long life, and isn't something you'd want to shoot that much anyways. I'd rather have one, that let's say an AMT .380. But then again, smaller than a Makarov (in caliber) I prefer .32s anyways...

I wish I could find a browning BDM or a colt mustang in Va for sale FTF, but they sure are hard to come by in this area
