and what I read was sickening. Here you go.

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring
their bells in front of their stores?
Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.
"Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud
sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our
spring recognition event.

We received the following reply
from the local TARGET management: " Veterans do not meet our
area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action
groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."
So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and
veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria,
then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were
not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.
As a  follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate
Headquarters and their response was the same. That's their
national policy.
Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow
the  Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their
stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would
not allow families of employees who were called up for
active duty  to continue their insurance coverage while
they were on military service. Then as I dig further,
TARGET
is a French-owned corporation.
Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American
Veterans, then why should my family and I support their
stores by spending our hard earned American dollars!
And, have their profits sent to France.

Without the American
Vets, where would France be today?

"They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks"
Sincerely,
Dick Forrey

I have seen the failure to support veterans before concerning them and have not set a foot in one of their stores since then!!

False rumor. TARGET gives to all charities, but the individual store managers don't have the authority. As for target being french owned, that is false. Target was started in Roseville, MN a first ring suburb of St. Paul. I grew up only a mile away from Target #1, and now that they have re-built it, it will be something like Target 2001 (they re-name every store when they rebuild). It is Presently Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. Target is a public company (formerly Dayton-Hudson corp, As in Sen. Dayton...who bought his seat.)

that is all.

Something like that would be difficult to believe if it didn't come from a rock solid source like a chain email.

Target is a bunch of card carrying commie pinko fag types, but that email is false. They are American owned and do give away a lot of money, even to veterans groups.

I notice the false allegations are still at the top of the page. Perhaps it's time to edit the other post for Bullshit? You do it the same way as the spelling errors.

Never, ever, ever believe anything contained in an email that asks you to forward it to everyone.  Please reply to the sender and tell them that they're better off not using the internet.

Sounds like someone is jealous. Will file this one right along with "Wal-mart sucks because they are so successful" type rants.

Everything you get in your email inbox is the absolute truth.

Wanna see the 21 foot croc killed in New Orleans?

Did you know that Mr. Rogers was a marine on Iwo Jima?

Did you know that one of our aircraft carriers tried to order a lighthouse to change course?

Wanna see a picture of a shark attacking a navy helicopter?

Did you know that coca-cola will dissolve bone?

I can send all these other truly incredible e-mails to you and they are all factual.

This strikes me as surprising. I also live in MN, home of the Target corporation. When we finally got a shall-issue CCW law passed, it had a clause that allows business/any building to ban guns from the premisis simply by putting a sign up at the entrance. Almost overnight, "No Guns Permitted" signs started popping up at stores all over the place. Target was basically like the only major corporation to come out and publicly say that they would NOT be banning guns from any of their stores.

This one is sort of true in a way.

Get a bone or tooth, leave it in Coca-cola for 10 days or so.
It will be about as soft as butter.
I've done it.

BTW, in case anyone is wondering yes Target did refuse to allow the Salvation Army to solicit outside their stores last Christmas, as did many other major retailers. It has nothing to do with donation guidelines or a dislike to the Salvation Army or similar organizations. It is all about Unions. You see, if you let the Salvation Army, Girl Scouts, anyone solicit outside of your store, then by law Unions also have a right to solicit for new members right outside your door. If you have a "no soliciatation" policy, and it is consistently enforced that it helps you fight the unions. Union membership has been steadily decreasing in recent years, and they are making a big push trying to go after major retailers to bolster their membership, specifically Wal-mart, but other big retailers are also targets.  So, basically, unions are screwing your right to have the Salvation Army in front of Target this Christmas............
