Probably not. It's a playback device. It doesn't "run" any programs.
Do iPod's have firmware updates?  Someone might write some kooky code into the firmware that randomly plays your music backwards as if Satan took over your iPod.

I actually do have a program downloaded on my IPOD. It's for displaying text on my car radio. The file is in MP3 format, and I play it as I would a song, but it enables my radio to dispay text for the ICELINK. |

It has an operating system, so it's possible. It would be the one Apple product large enough to be a target of hackers.
Mine was acting funny too, then I ran the update. Apparantly, I had gotten behind in my iPod updates and the iTunes had not. Human error, but the mismatch wouldn't allow iTunes to transfer certain songs to the iPod. |
