Then again, very little of our discussion here on www.ar15.com pertains to Colt made AR-15's prior to the Sporter name change.
I've never understood why the New York AW ban, which bans:
ANY OF THE WEAPONS, OR FUNCTIONING FRAMES OR RECEIVERS OF SUCH
49 WEAPONS, OR COPIES OR DUPLICATES OF SUCH WEAPONS , IN ANY CALIBER, KNOWN
50 AS:
51 (I) NORINCO, MITCHELL, AND POLY TECHNOLOGIES AVTOMAT KALASHNIKOVS (ALL
52 MODELS);
53 (II) ACTION ARMS ISRAELI MILITARY INDUSTRIES UZI AND GALIL;
54 (III) BERETTA AR70 (SC-70);
55 (IV) COLT AR-15;
56 (V) FABRIQUE NATIONAL FN/FAL, FN/LAR, AND FNC; .
...does not include all "copies or duplicates" of the AR-15 series of weapons. To be honest, NY government is only a court interpretation away from losing post ban AR's from what I can see as an average joe reading their law.
