Judicial nominations are not like bills. They cannot be killed by a committee vote. The Judiciary committee only makes a recommendation to the entire Senate. Robert Bork's nomination was rejected by the Judiciary on the 9-5 vote, yet he still got a vote by the entire Senate. |
