A REAL Steyer TMP is a hoot to shoot, but otherwise not really good for a whole lot. The European attitude toward police officers or military troops is still pretty much the same as it has always been...namely that they are cannon fodder for the "elite' (some French Police officers patrol on rollerblades now, for God's sake!) and that ANY firearm will do, since most bad guys are not armed with them at all.
I have a friend who is a well known and very well respected German Polizi Canine trainer and handler with many, many...did I say MANY?...serious arrests to his credit over more than 20 years, who does not even know what type long guns his station has on hand if things go in the shitter. (we finally figured out they were G1's in 7.62x51...he has never fired one and neither have any of the officers at his station that he is aware of...he is not ex-military) He last fired his H&K 9mm about two years ago for qualification...30 rd...and is completely unconcerned about that!
