I spent almost the entire day at the brake shop today. All I had with me was my latest edition of American Rifleman which came yesterday. I pretty much read the entire thing cover to cover. In it there was a story about a Winchester 1876 "One of One Hundred" rifle. This rifle was bought by someone in Montana in 1876, and given to a stage coach driver when the original owner became impressed by the fact that the driver killed 4 elk with the gun. This stage coach driver was a genuine wild west tough guy, who on one occassion use this rifle to kill a notorious Montana outlaw. Later he gave the rifle to his grandson. The rifle was used in a Jimmy Stewart cowboy movie, and eventually passed to the author of the article.

As always, there was also story after story of people who had used firearms in self defense. Everyday citizens defending their lives from the dregs of humanity. They also had reviews of more than 1 gun that I would love to add to my collection.

But the thing that struck me the most was the monthly letter from Wayne LaPierre. This time Wayne was praising President Bush for making the appointment of John Bolton as UN Ambassador. John Bolton, as we all know, is a staunch defender of the second amendment and holds more responsibility than any other individual for stopping the UN's attempts to impose gun control on the UN. In this letter, Wayne also outlined the goals of IANSA and the UN gun ban extreemists, which we know all too well.

After reading all of this, I just had to shake my head at these Antis. Why would anyone want to rob us of such a vital part of our heritage? Why would anyone want to disarm people and leave them helpless in the face of crimanals and tyranical goverment leaders? How can you look at a gun and not feel intensely patriotic? How can someone have such disdain for the industry and institutions that have played such an enormous role in American history? I just don't understand antis.

To them (the anti's) it's not about heritage, it's about control.

You cannot have "full" control of a population until you disarm them.  You need to look no further than the events played out in New Orleans recently.

BTW, did you get to shoot that FN yet???

Trying to understand the Antis is a fruitless venture.

To answer all that generally...

Antis are being/have been programmed to believe that guns in the hands of civilians is a bad thing.  The lies spread by the Brady Bunch is a perfect place to start.  Guns kill, ya know.  The Brady Bunch overtly ignores the facts, and prints boldfaced lies.

Look at the reports of schools surveying the students as to how many firearms are in the house, or doctors asking their patients the same.

Guns should only be in the hands of the military and LEOs - no one could possibly have more training than the military/LEOs/etc, right?

And the 2nd?  Many believe the Constitution is an ever changing document, how do we really know what the original intent was, times change; so should the Constitution, etc.

They are programmed to believe .Gov WILL PROVIDE everything - food, a job, security, etc.

Taking their own personal wellness and safety into their own hands just isn't a concept they can grasp.

There is a (partial) generation out there that thinks sitting on their hands and allowing .Gov to run their lives is a good thing.  The more .Gov is enabled, the better off they believe the world will be. The 'Why' to that line of thought escapes me.

Not to hijack but here's my perspective into 'that generation out there':

My son is 23 years old, and one of them.  He believes only the mil and LEOs should have guns, the more people let .Gov run their lives the better, etc.  He believes .Gov owes him everything.

I haven't spoken to him in almost 2 years - there was a HUGE argument - he needed a good ass chewing for certain events, and I was willing to oblige.  He won't answer my calls or return my messages.

God help us if people like my son ever gain power, vote en masse, etc - they'll probably euthanize us older folks just for grins.

My daughter on the other hand is a copy of me - the poor kid.

Most of the Anti's don't live in the 'real' world. If you live in a big city, college campus etc. you are shielded from reality and if they have never been a victim they can not fathom WHY you would want to own a gun. Also most urban people do not have any oportunity to even be taught the basic safety rules or ever go shooting for recreation.

It is a cultural differance. Korean Men (HETEROsexual) hold hands and if staying over night will sleep in the same bed. In the USA that is considered HOMOsexual and isn't done. Its culture.

It is VERY difficult for people to understand let alone accept anothers culture.

Add in Media Anti Gun Programming with no conterpoint and the NWO leanings of all popular media and it is no surprise.

Add in SOME brands of Christianity; where they have totally pacifist beliefs. My sister inlaw was raped and is a Christian who thinks this way and is still very anto gun. Never even took a self defence class. I can't possibly understand her so I don't try.

If guns are not part of your culture you will not understand them. If you do not understand them and if you have no real knowlege of them you will fear them.

Plus GUN Control is a liberal warfare word designed to condition the listener. What they REALLY mean is PEOPLE Control. THAT is what it is about. You can control an unarmed man you can not control an armed man (at least not as easilly). If you want to read a good book onthe subject pick up the 2002/4 edition of Bostons Gun Bible. He goes into depth about the real goal of Victim Disarmament aka Gun Control.

Plus most people have an abysmal edjucation and hold view on a number of subjects with NO THOUGHT as to WHY they believe what they believe. They are nearly incapable of Critical Thinking,  this ability is programmed out of us as a society.

The goal of  gun control is total disarmament. They cannot do it all at once, that will start a civil war. They are not retarded and understand this. Plus many of their goal have had MAJOR setbacks. Gun Control is a political looser right now, Many more states have CHL now. The assult weapon ban sunsetted, and gun manufacturers got a bill passed in both the house and senate. Small steps to be sure but at least in the right direction.

I think the NRA should start a MEDIA campaign to promote guns, regardless of the liberal backlash. Buy a TV station if they have to. If they did this I would donate every spare dollar I could to such a campaign, but they will never do it.

WE are the biggest problem, yes US, as we capulate on every new measure that we are stricken with. WE don't as a whole go on the offensive and TAKE BACK our Natural RIGHTS. We get one small victory and fall back asleep.

Dictators the world over hate their people to see America and the freedoms we have.  We set a bad example to their people.  Thus, they will do anything to turn America into another third rate socialist country.

This cannot happen while American are armed and able to resist.
