RECENT PRICE CHANGES.  The price of the M1 Garand Field Grade rifle has been
increased from $375 to $395. The price of the M1 Garand Rack Grade has been
increased from $325 to $350. The price of the Danish Issue Garand Rack Grade

M1 GARAND PARTS SALES DISCONTINUED. CMP has discontinued selling M1 Garand
parts. We have sold all the parts that were surplus to our needs and will
use the remaining parts we have in support of our inspection and repair
operations. Should we in the future accumulate more parts than we need for
our own use, we will once again get into the parts sales business, but this
won't be for at least two years, at the earliest.

Yes, I just searched and confirmed.  The last price increase took effect April 9 of 2005, not even 6 months ago.

Hi Folks- Talked to a nice lady (Jan @ North Store)this afternoon after downloading the new catalogue. She indicated that the new price would be effective on April 9, 2005. The new catalogue is terrific and much better than the "old" method of classifying M1's. Mr Michaels and the CMP should be congratulated..

ETA - The quick, multiple increases in price, the elimination of parts sales, the exhaustion of USGI field grades:  it is looking more and more like we may sooner rather than later see the end of CMP Garands.

How does that Greek M2 ball compare to the Korean stuff?  I just bought two 384-round cans of Korean on enbloc clips in bandoleers for just about the same price from Aim Surplus.  I've shot Greek HXP-headstamped .303 ball, and really liked it.

I had about 200 rds but never shot it.

I shur would have like to have some warning that the price increase was coming.

Didn't see anything about blowing up Garands, just that KA headstamped is corrosive and PS headstamped is not.  And that the Greek M2 is much more accurate than the Korean (dammit!)  Oh well.  The last can of Korean I shot went about 4MOA, and that's acceptable to me.  This stuff looks better. (Newer, anyway.)

The Danish w/o Wood price actually went down last time from $300 to $265, but now it goes up again.

Cmp m1s are still the best deal going. I can't say much about the Greek ammo except that the stuff I've handled felt greasy. The Korean stuff I've shot has been all PS headstamp PS 79. It does feel a bit hotter than my LC69, but not excessively so.

I just placed my order late last week, and the Garand arrived yesterday.

The Greek ammo is accurate, hot, and wonderful. Buy as much as you can.

Got the email too, just ordered one of the new stock sets and another case of ammo.

Which is a reasonable grade to buy?  I have carried some well used rifles when I was in the Marine Corp.  All the same they worked fine.

I think the time has come for at least one more Garand.  Maybe 2 more.  And buttloads of ammo.  I have a 52 H&R, matching, and I love this gun.   She is by far my favorite rifle.  

What all do I need to purchase a Garand from the CMP? I have a C&R FFL and a CCW License, what process do you go through for purchasing?
