"As we clear away the debris of a hurricane, let us also clear away the legacy of inequality," Bush said during a national prayer service with other political leaders and religious figures from the affected region at the National Cathedral.

Also Friday, White House officials said that taxpayers will pay the bill for the massive reconstruction program and it will worsen the nation's budget deficit.

Story

Appalling socialist commentary at an event that was supposed to be for prayer and rememberance for the victims.

But hey, It's GW Bush, so lets all send the bottomless money bucket to NOLA.

How come there aren't any taxpayers lining up to pay for MY house???

Capitolism is a better way to fix it.  Their will be alot of money to be made in N.O. in the coming year the market will sort it out.  Plus it looks like quite a few natives are not coming back, many not welcomed back from what I heard the mayor say today.

Communist comments by President Bush

BS.

Do you even know what a communist is?

Real Communist don't give a shit about public welfare, they are thugs and murderers.

Bush is no communist, saying he made communist statements is little different than calling him a communist or a Nazi.

In my opinion the White House, which is one of the most important government departments, is thoroughly infested with communists.

I have in my hand 57 cases of individuals who would appear to be either card-carrying members or certainly loyal to the Communist Party, but who nevertheless are still helping to shape our foreign policy.

Quoted:

Communism is an economic and political system based on the principle "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need." It stresses that the control of the means of producing economic goods in a society should reside in the hands of those who invest their labor for production. In its ideal form, social classes cease to exist, there is no coercive governmental structures, and everyone lives in abundance without supervision from a ruling class. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels popularized this theory in their 1848 Communist Manifesto.

You mean like that?

I think many people would say that capitalist democracies strive towards the same goals.  I don't much cotton to social classes, coercive goverment, or a supervisory ruling class either, and I certainly don't have any trouble with living in abundance.  I think if you were going to highlight the problems with Communism you'd put this sentence in red:

It stresses that the control of the means of producing economic goods in a society should reside in the hands of those who invest their labor for production.

New Orleans is generating almost -0- revenue now.  A rebuilt New Orleans that has less parasites than before will generate lots of revenue.

No, I was referring to reality, not theory, not Marxist rhetoric, but reality. What communist are and what they do.

I don't like big spending social programs, but I'm not going to lump Bush in with totalitarian butchers.

Yea..  Because we all know that by saying we should clear away inequality he means we should become communist.  Why in the hell did you read so much into that?

Could you not think that when he said "us", he meant the American people?  Or did he mean the government was going to take everyones property and make them equal?  Come on, give me a break.  You read way too much into that.

Though on a side note, if the people want to be equal then they all need to get a freaking job and stop mooching.  Or....  Let me mooch along with them.

That creates a whole new set of inequality: the wage slaves and the slavemasters, and the parentless children who are the real victims.
Inequality will NEVER disappear. As long as we are different people and not identical clones, living the exact same lives, there will be inequality.

Definately right about that.

That's what creates drive (in some).  And that is what creates advancement, innovation, etc.
