Current plates on the truck are:
"CLT M16" Was thinking of: "M16 SP1" "M16 SCM" "M16 A4" "BLK M4" "M16 SBR" "AUTO MTC" -- IMPLIED "O" FROM THE LOGO... "MCH GNR" "M16 GNR" "AUTO GUN" "556 M16" I'm open to suggestions, though I might stick to the original. It needs to be 6 characters. The fourth character can be an implied "O" because of the NRA logo. |
Saw a truck on the Navy base with "5.56 NATO". The owner even added the period.

Nice. I assume he leaves the driving to someone else. Although he could probably drive better than some people I've seen. |

I like to be low key..
I refuse to spend a dime xtra for personalized plates.. The person behind me doesnt give a shit, and Im sure not gonna try and impress the douchbag general public. |
+1 Custom plates all send the same message to me: that car is owned by a jackass. |
... Got to love the curmudgeonish around here. You should nix your avatar then. Would hate to have something that represents you in symbols. |

I find it's a pretty simple icebreaker at shoots and such. I could give a fuck about the "general public". I'm also not a cheap bastard. So I guess we fundamentally disagree. Oh well.... |
Yeah at shoots I can totally see that.. Pretty cool actually.. Also remember.. Or if you havent seen.. Nebraska has the most Fucked up Ugly plates in the US... No amount of personalization can make up for that.. I could get the Cornhusker plates though...
To which I attend a bunch....so it's kind of a "fun" item.... I'd like to be low key, but I'm not very creative. It's tough to hide "M16" in anything with only 6 characters. Which is why I asked for suggestions. |

Best license plate I've ever seen was "Rule 303" on a small station wagon in a McDonalds lot. That's a phrase from the movie "Breaker Morant" set in the Boer war, and is pretty much a true story. It stood for utilitarian conduct in war, and the basic reality of combat. Henry Morant was an officer who was charged with others for illegally executing some Boer prisoners. This is a movie line, and likely not a real trial transcript, but when he was asked where his authority came from in conducting his summary execution, he said "Those men were tried, convicted, and executed under RULE .303! (if you don't know, the Boer war was where the .303 British cartridge was first introduced to combat).
More of a drama than a war movie. What entertained me was that I was dirty and sweaty from yard work and looked like I couldnt add 2+2 without phoning a friend. When I got out of my truck, a lady walked out with a young daughter and appeared to head for the car. I approached her and she was a little concerned that I was tracking toward her. When I noticed she was getting scared, I stopped (about 20 feet away) and told her I liked her license plate, and I understood what it meant and where it came from. She appeared shocked, started smiling ear to ear, and told me I was the 2nd person ever to mention it, and that it was her husbands. |

I bet that most people wouldn't understand both sides of that line. |

Actually, he does drive with a modified vehicle. He's making the same mistakes others his age do. -Foxxz |

Here's a newsflash: My name is already associated with a known database of weapons. As is my picture and fingerprints. I'm sure they won't need my license plate to figure out who I am and what I have. YMMV. |

Me too! Completely amateur of course. Back in the day you should have seen the look on the ladies' faces when I started putting on the headlamp, goggles, snorkel, and swim fins. Nothing quite like a nice sloppy case of glazed donut face. |
