5 people killed by police, after they opened fire on a convoy of levee workers.
This story has been reported by several dozen major news sources, but nobody is offering any explanation for why the contractors - unarmed, and a threat to no one - were attacked. Where is the media's fabled penchant for thorough, in-depth investigative reporting?

If you're talking about the guys fired on while on the bridge, I believe the answer you seek is:
NOPD opened fire and killed them...thus the "why" is never to be known, or important i suppose. |

Yes, it does. As reported, this story doesn't make sense - Why would a group of people want to ambush a convoy under police escort? How would they have even known who they were ambushing? These contractors couldn't have done anything that would have improved conditions in the city for many weeks, so the theory about thugs not wanting to lose their playground doesn't make sense, either. |

The answer is, the initial reports are wrong...as usual. The police shot and killed five DoD contractors, not five thugs. The MSNBC story was from last night.

Why was a fire station attacked? Why was a police precinct "sieged"? Why did people refuse to leave after an evacuation order? Why do people loot? What was your question again? |

I would not get my panties in a wad over any initial media reports coming out of NO or anywhere else. All initial reports of any incident are inaccurate to some degree including in some cases complete BS with no basis in fact.

+1 he was half right. the initial reports were wrong, but it was the initial reports saying they were contractors. All major news networks have now confirmed it was BG's, and even the Army Corps of Engineers has stated that all of their ppl are uninjured. |

I heard on the news this morning that only two were killed, two were injured and 1 was captured. Who knows what really happened at this point.

The reason the vermin shot at those contractors and helos and
ambulances, etc, is because they are trying to get back at The Man. The good guys represent "The Man" that holds tha brothas down. So they lash out at the rescue workers because they are simply The Man. This is their chance to finally get back at them. Revenge. Never mind that those thugs AREN'T brothas, they are shit, but they like to believe that. In the mean time, they try to score a plasma tv and some Nikes. Simple minds. Simple psychology. Just a guess but I bet this story got confused when someone heard "Army contractors" and thought they heard "armed contractors" then the story went to shit when they tried to make sense of who fired on who and why. They should have realized the story was not making sense but the way it was printed made authorities (police) look inept so they ran with it. Dumb .....

Someone called in to an NPR talk show this afternoon, claiming that he was one of the contractors in the ambush. He said that he heard several rounds go under his truck, at which point the police escort returned fire. He didn't offer any reason for why they were ambushed.
