Just made my secont trip into the Reliant Refugee Center to resupply the children's triage area of the field clinic. Any questions about what I saw?

I was going to ask the same question.  

Take a big city charity hospital such as Ben Taub in Houston and multiply it by 1,000,000 and that what the Reliant Center Refugee Camp Medical Clinic looks like.

The most common complaints are asthma and infected wounds. Every patient gets an antibiotic before they do anything else. They have the place divided into specialties with nurses and doctors for each area plus a pharmacy unit. The staff serving the units are from all of the hospitals in the Texas Medical Center. Plus EMS from all over the state.

It is surprisingly orderly for the amount of traffic in the unit.

Hope they have someone guarding the pharmacy unit!

Lots of police working inside the Reliant complex. Everything is pretty calm inside. But the refugees are walking around outside the complex, roaming up and down Kirby, OST, Fannin, and the 610 area. Lots of them hanging around the stop and rob stores drinking beer.

There has been a steady stream of Houstonians dropping off clothes, diapers, and water but they just pull over to the curb on one of the above streets and unload the stuff on to the sidewalk. The refugees pick through it take what they need. The citizens are doing this because the wait to get into the complex is up to 1/2 hour. There is only one gate open for visitors and volunteers and that is McNee street on the West side. The traffic all around the dome is very congested due to all the people delevering this stuff for the refugees.

So far the Reliant complex grounds staff has been doing a good job of keeping the area clean.

Good Question. Some possible answers.

1. They had some money in their pockets when the storm hit and brought it with them to Houston.
2. As stated above, the govt gave them a welfare cash card. This is true.
3. They looted it from somewhere before arriving in Houston.
4. They strong armed it from other flood victims in the Super Dome.
5. They panhandled it from the Houstonions bringing relief supplies to the Reliant Center. I have seen this and know this to be true.
