NPR reported today that the Brits are afraid that USA will begin buying from Europe thus pushing their price from $6 per gallon US to maybe $7-8!

Crap! it's only been a couple of days! I can't believe we are so short of gas yet that it would justify the increases at the pump! This is just plain pre-emptive gouging by the oil companys.  It's check & check mate!  we're f---d, anti-up boys...and get ready for price increases across the board as costs are passed onto the consumer...

Believe it on the supply issue...

$2.89/gal for premium

10gal/customer limit

Traffic cones blocking off the station driveways, and MPs controlling the (very long) line..

This would be Ft Benning GA, at the main post AAFES gas station...

The problem is that the 'supply crunch' is being made worse by panic buying... People cram to buy gas because they think the price is going up, thus making the shortage worse & raising the price more..,.

Not true, you cant compare out prices to any other nation.  Other nations have tons of taxes included in their gas prices.  Mostly health care is fully? subsidized via gas tax.

Yeah, but you have to consider that Europeans rely a LOT more on mass transportation than we do, and the typical driving distance in Europe is much shorter compared to the U.S.

As an example, a friend of mine lived in the Netherlands for a few years. Recently, he and his wife took a trip to the Netherlands and borrowed a friend's car to "go for a drive".  They went to Belgium or something, which was like 45 minutes away, and when they returned their Dutch friends were shocked at the distance they had traveled! Now, going for a 45 minute drive in the U.S. is nothing, but to this Dutch family that was a long, long car ride.

Euros are forced to depend on public trans because the government levies outragous taxes not just on fuel, but on the vehicles themselves, on toll roads, on annual registration, etc. and redirects the money to those massive public trans projects as well as other governement "benefits".  I lived in Vienna for two years, and the cost of private ownership was prohibative... but artificially so - social engineering at its best.

I don't give a rotten rats ass what the cost of gas is in other countries.  This is AMERICA dammit!!  The GREATEST NATION ON THE PLANET!!!  I didn't buy into my momma's "there are starving children in Africa who have it worse" argument then, I'm not buying into that crap now.

They pay the same price per barrel of crude as we do.

The difference is we don't have all the Bullshit socialist agendas to fund like they do.

Thank God we live in the U.S.A.
