Is that GHD on the left behind the trigger?  GHD = Guy H Drewry, one of the ordnance inspectors.

You're likely to get hammer bite due to the lack of beavertail safety on that thing. Let me dispose of it for you. The web between your thumb and index finger will thank me.

Please bring that "Saturday Night Special" down to my department's next Amenesty Gun Turn-In.    For the children.  You get two coupons to  Chuck E. Cheese Pizza.  I will ensure that weapon is melted-down.  I promise.

I was actually thinking of throwing it on the equipment exchange in the next few days...

What's a fair asking price ?  $600 ?  $800 ?  $1000 ???

Sorry to hijack your thread DA, but this is a good topic to ask a question since it involves your subject matter.

Should a 1911 like this be used as a shooter or be put away for safe keeping?

The reason I ask is after my father-in-law passed away a couple years ago I found his father's Army issued 1911.  I used it on the IPSC range on day and another guy there said I should stop using it.

What do you guys think?

You can shoot it, bu be aware that things do break from time to time.

Don't use anything more than regular ball. No hollowpoints, as they most likely won't feed reliably, and no hot ammo
