How did you positively ID him as the bad guy? Just curious, good shoot either way for me. I wouldn't want that near my home regardless.
Good job on the watermelon. What make of ammo, how many shots? Need range report!
Poor doggy. |
dayum!
That gator got his fucking wig split! HEADSHOT! RIP Lady ETA: From the looks of that divot on the ground it seems you split his skull after you put him on land. Care to comment? |
Well, we hadn't seen any in a while, and then my little sister saw one a couple weeks ago, and Lady was bitten pretty badly. |
Maybe this is a stupid question, but...
Would this thing be a hazard to children in the area? Are they a menace in your parts, or is this rare? |
Winny white box 55gr, Bushy 11.5" w/5.5" FS.....there were 5rds left in the mag when I went back inside. |
The alligators are not a rare occurance, attacks on people are though. I kill everyone I see, I have 10yr old sister that I don't want the same thing to happen to. |
Good eatin' size still kinda tender, don't let the legs go waste, that is some of the best meat.
ETA: Sorry about the dog as well |
I am sorry for your loss.
I take it Lady didn't know any better. |
Louisiana...like here in Florida, a haven for gators and those who would excuse their predations because they are "wild animals"...kill the Hell outta them for all I care..there are lots more where they came from!
Good shooting! |
I would have done the same thing, but let me ask you this, did you guys move to an area known to have alligators?
I only ask because people here in AZ want to move out to the middle of the desert, then get all pissed off if they encounter a rattle snake or something like all the snakes and shit should somehow dissapear just because they want to live there. |
There were gators in our front canal, but this canal was dug when our temporary house was built as a means of drainage. They seemed to have crossed over |
In Louisiana and Florida if you are within the state lines chances are you are very close to an alligator. |
Sorry for your loss, but that baby would make a SWEET Eye of Sauron Holster!
Good shoot. Sorry about your dog. I would have blasted that thing into next week.
Looks like the 5.56 worked pretty well.
RIP Lady and know that you have been avenged. |
Sorry about your loss.
What are the local laws about killing alligators in your area? Do they have to be a threat or are you allowed to shoot them on your property? In S. Florida they are pretty tough to shoot legally. |
I don't really give a rats ass what the laws are |
Sorry about your lab.
I'm sure that Lady was protecting her property and her family. |
Sorry dude. Know how you feel. My g/f lost a wonderful TRAINED black lab due to an alligator at her pond. The pond is about 40 yards from her house and a couple gators just showed up one day. She and the kids were devastated to the family's loss. Because of kids and pets, the pond stays alligator-free now.
BTW- nice shot Louisiana Duckdog |
sorry about your dog. if it was mine, i might have shot more than one gator.
What're you planning on doing with the body? Eat it? Make a briefcase? Just curious what one does when one kills an alligator.
Sorry about your dog. I would have done the same, I dunno... maybe worse... there might have been a new lake on my property.
Gator, the other white meat.
Sorry about the dog, We have the same problem here in Florida. |
Well done! I am proud of you and very, very sorry for your loss.
I love my animals as well. |
But officer, it was threatening my [child] [dog] [mother] [corvette] . . . |
Not in LA, if I remember my "Hell Pig Hunt" correctly. Great book, by the way. G ETA - sorry about your dog. Good shot, I guess that 5.56 out of an 11.5" barrel works afterall. |
Sorry about you dog. I would have done the same then I would have ducted taped tannerite to the thing to hid the evidence.
Amen to that. Don't let that good meat go to waste. |
20 or 30rd mag? Roy |
Sorry about your dog, good shoot. Man that .223 did a number on the Alli.
I would not have done the same.
I dont live wheres theres alligators. If it bothers you that much, you should consider moving. Now, not saying you did wrong. If I DID live where there were gators I'd have for damned sure done the same thing. |
Beta mag? |
