I just returned from the range and just noticed something weird.
In the shade the gun was shooting with no problem at all. About 50 rounds of both types of ammo.
I get closer to the target to do some close quarter drills and the slide starts binding on me.
I have shoot about 16-20 rounds only. I am in direct noon sunlight.
By the time I walk back to the shaded area the slide is working fine. I'm thinking ammo is heating the gun up and causing the slide to bind?
I proceed to dump some more ammo down the range and the slide is working fine again and I note that I am in the shade. I dump some more about 100 rounds and not a single slide malfunction between reloads and mag changes.
I go back out under thse sun and the slide is binding again after about 18-20 rounds.
Is the tolerance on a 1911 so close that the heat from sun and ammo will cause binding but heat from just the ammo wont.
Dosen't matter which ammo or mag that I'm using.
Ammo is doubletap 10mm and federal silver box 10mm.
Mags are DW originals.
The last time I shot it it was on a cloudy day and I had no problems at all.
I did notice the slide fit is closer on my DW than my SA loaded.
