3 area men charged with assault, false imprisonment
By Sheri Melvold, Quad City Times Clinton Bureau
Three men from Mexico who worked at a Maquoketa restaurant are accused of making sexual advances to waitresses while detaining them in a walk-in cooler.
Police Chief Brad Koranda said the men were arrested this week at Maquoketa Family Restaurant. Arrested were Alfredo Trinidad, 25; Roberto DeSantiago, 31; and Martino Marraro, 40, all of Maquoketa. They were charged with assault and false imprisonment. Trinidad also was charged with forgery and identity theft.
The three men were in the country illegally, Koranda said. The Immigration and Naturalization Service picked them up Wednesday.
Court documents show Trinidad had several Social Security cards on him when arrested, one of them with a Social Security number of a woman from Indiana who died in 1978.
Trinidad and DeSantiago, who apparently were cooks at the restaurant, would trap waitresses in the walk-in cooler. While the women had their hands full with boxes or food, the men would fondle them, kiss them or make suggestive remarks, police said.
