[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How do you burn DVD's ?

I have some movies on my computer that I will like to copy to a DVD, I tried using "DVD X Copy" and it seems that it only copies from DVD to DVD and not from a file/movie that I have in my computer.

What program do you suggest I just buy or download to do this?

Nero

You can do a 'DVD compilation' and I think it will transcode movies into a DVD readable format.

TMPGEnc DVD Author will edit and convert MPEG 1&2 to DVD ISOs.

The download is a free 30 day trial.

I use it almost every week.

It depends on what format the movies are in.

You need the right program to encode from your movie file to a DVD format.

One of the best is TMPGEnc.

This converts the common .avi file to DVD ready MPG format.

Then use TMPGEnc DVD author to break it into the disk format, and to burn.

If your files are in something like real player .ram, good luck.
I don' t know how to do it.

+1 for Nero - did a compilation of clips last night myself.

ULead will do it too, and I think you can get a free trial online still.

Anyone with a Tivo been able to successfully record a .tivo file to DVD?

Try VLC media player.
I have yet to come across a video or audio file that it cannot play if it is used properly.

I burn'em in a loosely stacked pile and use a little charcoal lighter to get them going a little faster.

Download the Divx codec or player.
