There's a little-known letter around. It doesn't appear on keyboards, rarely in print, it's not in the Alphabet Song, and you most likely wouldn't recognize it if you saw it.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the schwa: Ə . Written as an upside-down lowercase "e," this little outcast is perhaps the most important letter in the English language. Say "holiday," or "about," or "dinner," or even sometimes "the," and you are uttering the schwa. It is the most common vowel sound in English, pronounced roughly as "uh," and we don't even give it the recognition of existing in ASCII.

I say it's time to change that. I say let's petition to have the schwa added to the alphabet, to keyboards, to ASCII, and to our lives!

Hurrah for the schwa!

The schwa is unused in leet speak. Therefore it will be unnecessary in the future.
