Alright, I despise Ebay, but I have had trouble finding what I wanted locally.  I find one, bid on it and for the last 3 days have the high bid.  No reserve auction, but I might have gone considerably higher.  Well, about 10 minutes ago, I get a notice that the auction is cancelled as the seller no longer has the item available.  Is this normal practice, to offer something for auction and for a potential buyer to meet all the terms and deal in fair competition with other buyers only to have it sold out from under by the seller?  If so, it seems fairly well dishonorable.  If you were not going to sell the item through that channel why not just run a newspaper ad?  If the seller had a buy it now price, he should have said so, I probably would have.

Quoted: eBay charges you for a Reserve Price so some assholes don't use that feature and instead remove the item when they don't reach what they were expecting...

Sad part is I would have gone higher.  He could have just set his opening price higher but removing it when there is a buyer on the line is cheesy.  

Should I leave this guy negative feedback?  I have never once backed out of an online deal and once stuck to the deal even with a higher FtF offer.
