I was backing out of the drive way and heard alot of crunching noise in my front right tire area. I suspect its the front u-joint and bearing. If so what would the cost of repair be. Its a 96 4x4

Probably a kitten. They like to get up in there to keep warm.

Garden hose and about 3 minutes of your time. Should be fine.

crunching noise?

ujoint often sounds like clicking that speed increases proportonal to speed of travel.  Could be a ball joint.  If a bearing breaks, your chances of steering the vehicle with accuracy are very slim.

Any other symptoms to help narrow it down?

Continous crunching sound, sounds like a bearing, steering sucks and it is  jerky when you turn the vehicle.
