I'm way behind most. Just set up a new laptop and a wireless network in my house...damn I'm in heaven. Laying on the couch New Castle Brown on the table and cruising AFRCOM...!!!The life!!!

better not have 2.4 Ghz cordless phones in your house.  ours disrupts our wireless almost everytime someone calls

Yeah cause MAC address filtering and 128 bit wireless encryption really does it.

Change channels on the wireless network.

Change between 6 and 11.

Yes, a properly configured AP can be just as secure as it's wired counter part. Also I wouldn't be to worried about the neighbor kid hacking my wireless connection.

Call me a troll whatever I don’t care. I’m just trying to help my ARFCOM brother out. Give some teenagers an open source program and a 50 dollar antenna and see what happens.  The only secure computer is a computer that is turned off.

Not callin you a troll at all, just having some fun.

While an out-of-the-box AP *is* inherently insecure, a little WEP and MAC whitelisting and you're good to go from 99% of unauthorized access. Hackers and kids are looking for easy targets, the low-hanging fruit.. they're not going to expend all the effort to crack a residential AP whitelist.
