I received my Protech G3 build in it's final state as far as Gravitt is concerned.  This was originally an aluminum SAR8(long story how not to build a clone) sent to Jim Gravitt to swap the barrel over to an FMP receiver/trunnion/tube assembly and refinish it.

To make a long story short he admitted to letting a newbie "train" on my simple project.  The barrel was improperly pinned and the boltgap went to zero in less than 100 rounds.  The results....

Note the sunlight shining thru the fwd top corner.

Barrel recessed into the trunnion.

Bump in the rail caused by the rollers under excessive cycle pressure.

Broken hammer, blown head and case.

Damaged/scuffed bolthead caused from slamming into trunnion.

Best thing I can say is the rail repair looks flawless.

Finally this blows my mind.  Brian at HOT51 www.hot51.com/ told me he has personally seen at least one Protech build with the OD of the chamber area sanded too far, meaning almost no press fit between the barrel and trunnion.  I was interested how Jim would deal with this were this problem a reality.  Apparently this was a problem because the Springfield U.S. made barrel NEVER had knurling machined into the chamber OD while in my possession.

I will not be pulling the trigger on it now.  According to the final receipt Jim will not offer any further warranty, even though I've yet to possess this rifle even a year.  I've owned it almost 5 years now.

Holy shit.  There's gotta be some way to sue for that.
