My best friend was a 150 pound giant Alaskan Malamute.  He was only 6 but slipped a disk yesterday and could not move his back legs.  I called some people over to help me put him in the back of my truck to tak him to the vet.  They had to do it in the back of the truck do to his size and it took the asshole vet twice to do it as I held him down.  He was my best friend who had been there for me during a very bad divorce.  I will miss him a great deal.  We went everywhere together.

That is a total bummer, HMC2RN.

Go find a new dog right away!   It helps....trust me, I know.

Sorry to hear about your loss but the doc is an ass for trying to help you?  I think your anger is misdirected.

Sorry to here about your friend. I lost my Maltese who I really loved about 6 years ago. I thought I didn't want another dog but the house felt so empty that my husband brought home a JRT pup. He's no Maltese but he sure is lovable. It did help.

This is tough, especially at only 6 years old...

My Golden died of cancer 2 days before his 7th birthday and it still grieves me.  I'm really sorry to hear about your loss...

Sorry man.  But at least he got to die with someone who cared about him.

My ex put our dog (shepherd/collie mix) down because the dog didn't like my "replacement".   Still pisses me off to this day.

Very sorry to hear that.  As said before, at least he passed with someone he loved.

I don't know how I will get by without my current buddy (8 year old Blue Heeler).

I'm sorry.

I agree with the "go out and get a new dog right away."  I don't recommend you get the same breed again.  It's too soon.  I also think you should go with a dog from the pound.  No puppy issues and it'll be greatfull.

I had to to put my friend of 15 years down last week.  Kidneys were shot for months and all the other problems related to that had kicked in.  It took the vet a couple times as well, but It wasn't bad since it's just an overdose of anesthesia.  The first shot got enough in the blood that he fell asleep, then he was able to get the rest in.  I feel for ya bro.
