I need to kill these weeds that in the spring and summer grow out of control.
They grow and climb up trees and some of them were reaching the power lines. I just hate to see them, I cut them down but they grow back. I want to kill them DEAD!
What should I use and when is the best time to do this?

Roundup?

I think any time they are growing, Roundup will kill them dead - but I'm not sure how that might affect a tree.

Salt works well..

or maybe that's just on the rival school's baseball field.. dunno.

Home Depot has big 50# bags of it for like $4. Works best when damp.

Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass about the tree. I don't want to see these weeds crawling up anywhere, When is the best time to pour Roundup? Where do I buy this thing?

Zero effect on the tree if you don't get that stuff on the leaves. The chemical absorbs thru the leaf. You've got apply it when the plants are little seedlings, otherwise it takes a lot more chemical and you will have straw to get rid of. Roundup is like $40/gal concentrate at Home Depot.

DIESEL. Downside is that it will kill ANY plant that it touches; so either be careful and brush the weeds down 1 by 1, or spray the stuff and leave your yard looking like a wasteland.

GROUNDCLEAR made by Ortho. Guarenteed to kill weeds & everything else it comes in contact with. Supposedly nothing will grow where you spray for at least one year.

ETA: Round-Up is mostly water, unless you get into the cocentrate stuff, then you are talking about spending alot of money to kill weeds.

You can find roundup at just about any hardware store or homecenter... Comes in a white bottle...
The stuff is environmentally safe...much better than pouring diesel fuel IMHO...

ETA: Have you tried digging out the roots?

Wait untill the weeds are growing good like late May or June. Liberaly douse the leaves. If you get it on the bark of the tree no big deal. Roundup is environmentaly benign and breaks down in five days.

The soil sterilent/defoliant is the best way to go but will work better when the plant has broken dormancy and is actively growing so it will absorb more of the chemical. Let me know if you find it at the Home 'Depot, if not I can get you some of the "commercial stuff" we use here at the golf course to keep boundary makers weed and vine free. Any of the weedkillers mentioned willl do the trick ... Getting the stuff to stay gone on a permanent basis is the trick though. Note that the fine print says "Up to a Year".

I've been battling a deeply dug in crop of Poison Ivy since I bought my house, each summer I gain a little bit more ground, and I think I may finally have beaten it last year ... After blasting the site with Roundup and letting that work for a few days, I waited to see what I'd missed then hit it with a second treatment, just to get all the survivors ... After letting that work for a few days, I tacked heavy black plastic tarp over the entire area ... This did two things, it blocked the sun completely, and worked as a heat trap to make the ground very hot ... this cooks anything left living underneath and basically scorches the area you're trying to clear of life. As soon as the frost clears this summer, I will be covering the area with landscaping fabric and mulch to discourage any new growth.

Take note, when applied to a field to kill weeds, you can till and plant in 10 days. Roundup works, but has a short life span. When trying to kill weeds in the cracks of your sidewalk, you'll be at it every 2 weeks.

Look for something that is classified as a "sterilant". These are not usually readily available without a license. The really good ones may not be that is.

Pramitol or Hyvar-X. Those are the two I can think of. The sterilant part will help keep the stuff from coming back.
