[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Who else has a stash of old baseball cards?

Cleaning house and found a box of old baseball cards.
Many are worth $1, $5 or even $100 a card per the Baseball card books, but of course if no one wants to buy them they are essentially worthless.

The cards are not selling for more than a few cents on E-Bay.

Should I hold them and hope in 20 years or so someone may buy them or just trash them make room?

I came across all my old baseball cards the other day. Probably (4) 12x12x16 boxes full of plastic cased ones.

Then I too looked at ebay.....I think I'll keep them

I've got a lot of basketball cards mainly, and some baseball cards. When you look in Beckett, you think you've discovered a gold mine, but I don't know anyone who would actually buy them at that price. I guess I'll keep mine.

I used to collect pretty big time from the mid 80s to the early 90s. I have a LOT of them still. I sold off about $12K worth of unopened cases and sets when I was trying to gather up down payment money for my house. I have a ton of singles still.......I mean a TON!! They are taking up a crapload of space here.

now that I think of it, I have a bunch of comic books laying around. I wonder if any of them are worth anything.

Only card I have thats worth anything is a Ozzie Smith rookie card.

I have the complete 1989 Topps baseball card set... it is worth a whooping $13.

I have a few, but I personally never liked baseball all that much.

I have plenty of Football Cards, Comic Book Cards, and I even have some of the cards they made for the 1st Gulf War.

i had a bunch of baseball cards and they got left in a suitcase in the garage and my fucking dog pissed all over them when he was a puppy

I have lots from the late 80's to mid 90's and they were worth ALOT more back when I was collecting them. Now they are basicly worthless

They Killed Baseball card collecting when they started selling complete sets, Anything post 1985 or so is pretty much worthless. I still have mine from late 70's thru about 81. Only cards that are really worth anything by the " Book" are the 4 rookie Ricky Henderson cards but really don't ever bring those prices in reality.

Wow, I forgot about those. I think I still have mine too. I also remember having a whole set of Dukes of Hazzard cards.

I found my full set of Star Wars cards from the first movie. Thought they might be worth something. But they aren't, so just keeping them. Never into sports cards.

I have a box load of cards which I collected in the 60s. Unfortunatlly my little brother high graded the good ones before I picked them up from my parents house. He also took my copy of Sandy Koufax's bio which had his autograph. I still have my ticket stub from the 65 World Series where the Orioles kicked the Dodgers butt..

Saved mine from mostly '58,59,'60.
Lot of those guys are in the hall of fame now.

Oh hell yeah. I have almost the complete set from 1971 and a bunch from the 60s and 50s. Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Nolan Ryan, Reggie Jackson, Hoyt Wilhelm, Willie Mays, Johnnie Bench... to name a few off the top of my head.

Topps sets in the 80s and 90s aren't worth much because they were way overproduced. But still I have complete factory Topps box sets for each year my three kids were born. I'll give them to them when they're old enough to appreciate them.

Not really looking at the sales yet.

Kind of died on the cards sales....

being a die hard Orioles fan i can tell you that was '66 not 65
anyway
was into this hobby big time from mid 80's-early 90's
then card companies saturated the market with update sets'
rookie sets,foil sets,traded sets along with so many new companies
it pretty much ruined the hobby for good.
