I want a new toy.  I've read about all the fun new toys ARFCOMERS have gotten on here.  I want a new gun to carry with me all the time.  Right now I carry mostly my .45 but it's big and bulky.  I want something more petite and easier to conceal.

Any suggestions?

Patty

My Sig 239 is the nicest carry weapon I've ever tried.  It's big enough to not be a toy, but still concealable.

Mine is in .40.  In over 2500 rounds I have not had ONE single failure of any kind, with any kind of ammo.

It's my carry piece now 90% of the time.  Not petite, but certainly easier to conceal than the 1911.

Get a Browning Hi Power. It will feel SO familiar after carrying a 1911, but you'll think it went on a diet because it's smaller and lighter. It's what I carry.

It's the small version of the 1911.  Are you sure you carry the 1991?

Yes, I just checked.  Is that the smallest .45 available?  I would like something quite a bit smaller.  I've considered carrying a .380 but I really like a .45.

I'll check this out, thank you for the tip.  I was at an NRA auction once and they had a .45 about the size of a .380 and I wanted it very much, but was out bidded.

+1 on a Sig 239.  Very high quality guns.  I carry a Sig 229, a bit larger than a 239.

ETA, I originally bought a Springfield Armory Ultra Compact 1911 as a carry gun.  I have so many problems with mine that it would be ridiculous to trust it as a CCW.  I've heard the smaller 1911's are usually more finicky.

1200-1300 NIB.  From all the Springfields I have handled, I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.

Kimber also sports the Ultra Carry II, they claim it's smaller than the Springfield Micro Compact.  I don't see a price listed, but they have a dealer locater so you can find out who's a dealer near you.

I almost forgot the pic.

Also it comes in Stainless.

I'm just keeping in the fact that you mentioned that you like your 1911, and these are still .45, allthough the Kimber in Stainless does come in .40 Smith also.

My wife carries a P7M8, she tried others but found them all wanting.  If a guy grabs it he might not know how to operate it right off.  Whereas it is probably quicker to use than any other auto if you know how.
Much quicker than a 1911 & much safer too.
I am going to let her try my XD9 subcompact when we have time.
She shoots IDPA with me twice a month.

Patty, +1 on the Kahr line.  My wife carried the original K9, and a when the PM9 came out, she went to that.  I haven't owned the .40 or obviously the new .45, but wow! Those things are sweet little shooters!  She's had a trigger job done on each of hers...they're like buttah!

And small too...really small...

Not so much a unique loading mechanism, the barrel is pinned to the frame similar to the Makarov.  What is unique is that you have to squeeze the grip to cock the weapon, also gas is ported from the barrel like most semi auto rifles.  It takes about 7-10 lbs to cock it, however it only take 2 lbs of pressure to keep it cocked.  The two draw backs I have seen to the system is one, the grip gets very warm over the space of a couple of mags, and the other is that it is very expensive to get worked on.  I think NJHP had these, and the cost to refubish their P7's was more than the purchase price of a new one.
