This website is by a German soldier who is building a giant scale Su-27 He takes you almost step by step so you can see the THOUSANDS of hours he has in it. THe 3rd link down in the top right also has some great pics of real Su's.

Anyone see the A-6 in the background behind the F-5F?

All of those pictured use actual jet turbines costing $2k + each. THe engines in that concorde alone are probably $16k.

Thus the wishing I had the $$$$ for that hobby.  So the engines have come down huh?  The last I saw, they were running $3500+

The small "mini" turbines are inthe low $2k range and go up, way up from there. The have turbines that are only 2" in diameter now!

Cool.....I still can't afford it...but I think the last I saw the smallest you could get was in the 3.5 - 4" range.

Do they have any with working afterburners yet?  Since all I can do is dream at this point, I'd have to say that would be extremely cool!

I've always love planes as long as I could remember....in kindergarten all I ever crayoned was jets...I was planning to join the navy to become an F14 pilot but sh*t happens a home so I couldn't do so.......loved RC airplanes but never could afford one-finally bought a cheap starter plane and LOVE IT SO DEARLY-just hate the battery chargings.....
Just wish to win the lottery so I may enjoy the dream that I've always wanted to do but do from the ground

I know there are people experimenting but nothing commercial yet. It will happen. There are even fuctioning pipe feathers that move in relation to throttle settings. Very cool.

You think that's purty!? There is a company working on a 1/6.5 scale F-18 Super Hornet. Now, to put the size of that into perspective, a regular NON-super hornet in 1/7th scale has a 72" wingspan. The Super Hornet is larger than the regular hornet in real life and the model will also be bigger in scale! Without looking up the span of a SH, I'm guessing the model will have a 90" or so span.

Scale landing geat and speed brakes, 2 turbines etc etc. Mega $$$.

This guy is building a mold to make a fiberglass F-111 fuselage. Yes, the wings will be swinging via air power.

How about a giant scale Me 262?

Holds 15 liters of fuel, has a 8 ft span and weighs 90 lbs.

One of these days somebody with huge wallets is going to build a giant C-130 or C-141 Starlifter or C-5 and have Action Figure Paratroopers exit the rear doors.

I’d love to see that in action.

I just dare ya Sarge!  I just dare ya to have your Action Figures do an Airborne Assault one of these days!

It is definately a hobby for the anal retentive. There are guys who put the correct number of RIVET marks on their planes.

There was a group over in England, IIRC, that built a scale B52.  Thing was fuggin HUGE.  They had video of it's taxi test, takeoff, flying around, and ultimately, its crash.

Tooo bad the militaries UAV's aren't as cool looking. Like take that A10 one and throw some hellfire's on the wings and have some fun with insurgents. Better yet hellfires and a 308 minigun in the nose that would be the shit!!!!

Jet Cat just released a turboprop engine. The C130 project is already complete IIRC. The association for these aircraft has limited thrust per engine to 45LBS due to safety/speed concerns. Planerench out.

My uncle in Germany has been doing that since the 70's. We used to go to their RC club all the time and watch, so I've been around those things for quite a while. The transformation these things have seen over the last few decades is amazing.

The club he belongs to, although in a real small town, is the home of the recent World Acrobatic champion. I got to meet the dude when we visited earlier this year. They were testing out a turbine driven prop plane. My uncle has actually developed a kit from scratch that's for sale commercially now.

Yeah - the time that goes into building one of these from scratch is insane. I'm surprised he's still married to my aunt after all this time....
