Yeah, I heard about this, and I've lost alot of repect for McCain.  He's gotten as bad as the rest of the liberals, anything for a little media attention, even selling out the Constitution.  He's decided dto ignore the phrases "right of the people", and "shall not be infringed".  Whatever is conveninent I guess.

Sure glad he didnt get the nomination he must be a democrat in disguise.

We can't assume that all Republicans are pro-guns, and not all Democrats are anti-gun. The gunners should always vote for the person, and not blindly vote the party.

I just wish he'd work that hard for term limits.

Mcain/Leiberman in 2004?

With the Republicracs moving more left to get the votes and the Demolicans moving more right for the same reason this would be the new Centralist  Party with more broad appeal than the Libertarian for sure.

I think we are beginning to see the weakness of democracy and the results of ignoring our Constitution.  

Ask any pool of voters which candidate they would vote for, the one whos plank is self responsiblity and freedom, or the one who says I will take care of you.

For those of you who haven't noticed DB is an infiltrator from www.democraticunderground.com. Let's get another source before we condemn McCain on his account.

I know it has been a little while, but as you know, mccain was never widely backed by regisered Republicans and never had any real chance at the republican nomination with most of his support coming from non-republicans (he was obviously the democrat and news media pick to be the Republican nominee).

Just as there is a struggle for power in this country between the parties, there is a struggle within the parties for control.  You are not going to gather tens of millions of people into an organization to promote their views without having conflict over what those views are.

Perhaps if you had a party membership of only tens or hundreds of thousands then you could have a cohesive and ineffective group.

As for GW - You didn't vote for him or support him (along with many gun owners)and you disparage him and his party at every opportunity, call me crazy but I don't think he'll be working very hard to try and impress you.

Why don't you give me your estimate on when the first libertarian will be elected president.

You sound like you in your infinite wisdom figured it all out and left the rest of us monkeys in the dust.  I'm a bit skeptical.

I also saw McCain talking about gun contol during the election.  Don't ask me for specifics (sp), but unfortunatly he was leaning a little to far left on the issue for anyone on this board to like him.  I was very dissappointed in him.
