Yep, Kali has incredible wealth & talent, but let's look at their moonbeam dreams:

1.  They thought they could FORCE electric car development, it FAILED

2.  They thought they could have a booming economy and avoid electrical generation and transmission, it FAILED

3.  They passed a law to simply roll back car insurance rates, now most of LA has no insurance.  It FAILED.

4.  They think they can live in earthquake and mudslide zones with no consequences.  That idea FAILS.

5.  They think they can spend, spend, spend, until Orange County went belly up.  More FAILURE.

6.  They think they can force Smartgun technology.  It will FAIL.

kalif is considered a "progressive" state, where new ideas are formed and tried, and sometimes yes they fail. im not saying they are good ideas from the start or are good in the end, but nothing ventured -- nothing gained.
many people in the country reap the Benefits of ideas that were formed and tried in kalif. for all those ideas that are benefical to some, there are people who will suffer.

Beg to differ on a couple of points.

First Orange County managed to recover from it debacle. It is still one of the richest counties in America. The bonds that were issued did not default. Although they missed payment 95% of those bonds were insured. If you try to buy any of those bonds now you will have to pay a premium for it.

Second CA economy is still booming albeit a slower pace. Unlike what you here from the media, CA economy does not depend on silicon valley.

Aside from its majority political views and restrictive gun laws, CA is the best place to live IMHO.

Sure, I've been to California a number of times.  I lived in Southern Oregon for 2 years, and travelled to Cal for business.  I been everywhere from the northern border down to LA.   Trips ranging from 1 day'ers to 2 weeks in LA right as the 2nd Rodney King trial was wrapping up.

I still stand by my points.  California is a land of milk and honey.  They have a tremendous economy, and generate a tremendous amount of wealth.  Their agriculture feeds a  large percentage of the country.  However, they have a moonbeam mentality that they can legislate whatever they want, being such a large economy with 33 million people.

I read a joke about California solving it's energy problems by repealing the laws of physics.  It's not that big of a stretch that they would try it.  

Yes, living in Maryland we've got plenty of problems of our own.  Our Governor spent $183 million to buy his last gun control bill.   We are facing the shutdown of handguns sales this fall when few gun makers will be supplying the required shell casings and the state has failed to setup the mandatory training courses.  [i]Oops, guess you can't buy a handgun now!"[/i]

I have been to Kalifornia once (Bay Area).  I think that it is a great place to visit but I would not want to live there.  Besides the bad drivers, bad traffic, congestion, and high prices I thought they were way too tolerant of street crime.  I saw people doing drugs out on the street in broad daylight, and the homeless population was huge (I just missed seeing a homeless knife fight).  I hate having to be in that sort of situation without a concealed firearm.  I was also surprised at how much litter and dirt there was on the sidewalks and streets. Why do the Greens there tolerate littering?

There sure were a lot of hot women in the Bay Area.  I like Asian/Latino/Indian women so I got an eyeful.

My wife and I pulled into San Fran on a 87 degree day.  We thought it was a little funny seeing guys in trench coats, until we saw the chalk outline of a body.

We ended up driving through the worst parts of San Fran.  Every time we would stop at a redlight, the natives would get up, set down their booze, and start approaching the car.  Finally got to the point I just started running the redlights.  I've only had this creepy a feeling in Camden New Jersey.

Toward the end of the day, they had motorcycle cops stationed on almost every street corner.  You just had the feeling that war was about to break loose when the sun went down.

I have lived in the PRK most of my life, and was born here.  Except for the jacked up government, it is a great place to live.  Nowhere else in the world could I earn enough money to have a really cool car.  There are plenty of hot babes in the south bay.  There is great weather and no hurricanes or tornadoes.  I less than 3 hours drive from my house, I can ski in the mountains, surf in the ocean, gamble in Nevada, hike in the foothills, bike along the river, raft the American, and the list goes on and on.  I suspect everyone else is jealous of how great we have it here.  About the bad laws, don't worry, we will export those to your state and your gun laws will be jacked up too.  You can run, but you can't hide.

All I can say is HAHAHA.  

I lived in CA, and in MD.  MD is the armpit of the country IMO.  When I was there (1977) the sherrif told our neighborhood that was getting raped with B&E's at night with women sleeping in the houses:

1. I see a lot of those hybrid 70-80 mpg cars out and about. They're strange, because they zoom by making almost no sound.

2. They are building powerplants faster than you can believe. They just finished a plant in LA a year ahead of schedule. 11 more on the way. The DWP is currently selling power to the rest of the state, making a good amount of profit at the same time. Even Nuclear Plants are now being considered, I thought that I would never heard that word in Kali ever again. To me, the power crisis is the best thing to happen in a long time. Major earthquakes tend to hit this region once every 150-200 years. The last 9.0 earthquake to hit the midwest in 1811. Do you think y'all are safe now? That quake was felt all the way out to NYC with damage reaching nearly that far. All Kali structures have to meet extremely rigid building standards. The last time I visited Chicago, I noticed a lot of brick sky scrapers near downtown. In fact, most of the houses in Illinois seem to be made of brick. "Pancake" is the only word I could think of at the time.

5. Orange County is the place to be. My Chicago friend recently moved back to Tustin Ranch, no visible telephone/power lines, , clean air, about 10 minutes from the beach, everything is relatively new, planned communities, no slums, it's just a sweet place to live.

6. Smart guns don't exist yet and have to prove themselves reliable and safe. They are just a pie in the sky fantasy right now.
