My wife rocks. We had a conversation for about half an hour last night about home defense - particularly about the use of a pistol vs AR. We also talked about what would happen if portions of the US broke down with major terrorist attacks / shtf situation.  She walked away from the conversation with her "hmmmmm" or "interesting..."  face. Today I get an email saying we are going to the local gun show this weekend...to find an AR hopefully! She wants to learn soon how to handle the AR for when I'm away on business.  She likes the idea of using it to defend the house better than a glock 40.

I'm trying to imagine a small blonde weilding an AR!

Awesome!

I'll try to get a pic to put up. I don't have a digital camera but we plan on buying one for Christmas.

Just having moved across the country we don't have the $ to buy two right now but I'm working on it!

I am getting a collapsable stock so it can better fit her.

Remmember, you need plenty of ammo, mags, and an eotech, to defend your home properly. And just remmember, aquabumping is not an accepted home defense technique.

Don't tell her that a shot gun is actually a much better home defense weapon.  .223 rounds tend to go through many walls in the home.

Having said that, I have a colt M4 set-up and no shot gun.

What can I say........

Buck will actually punch through more walls than fragmenting 5.56 mm (like XM193).

I use a sawed off browning m2 with a side grip and a shoulder strap.. i load it with APIT.. works wonders on bad guys.   It over penetrates slightly.

On a serious note... good choice in firearms.. m4.. short light, the stock will fit your wife wonderfully!  and the .223 is a great CQB round... i do suggest no less than a 16" barrel tho... aka 14.5 with perm mounted brake or FH.

Is she smaller in stature?  Sure give her a 12ga. and tell her to suck it up!
We're going to an Armstech Rem. 870 AR15 stock adapter for our smaller oficers.   We hope to further bolster their shooting confidence by switching to rifles down the road.

get BOTH

get BUSHMASTER; if not, build your own ( not recommended if you are not familiar w/ ARs)

whichever, always get a chromeLINED bbl, fh, min. of 16in bbl, m-4 stock

and as for a pistol, SCREW the .40 sw (lacks penetration--like through cars)

go w/ 45acp(+1) or .357sig (9mm for hi-cap and cheap shooting); glock is good, 1911a1s are best

and your wife is awsome!

Woot!, way to go there man.

His and hers is definately the thing to do as was mentioned already.

Especially with the proper ammo selection.  Don't need FMJ's to be buzzing about.  TAP TAP TAP or perhaps those now frangibles (sp?) are what I would suggest.

and Finally in the fine AR15 tradition, "What ?  No pics of said blond cutie?"

I tried last night to get permission, yeah yeah I know, to post her pic. I was told not to if I wanted the AR.

She is a cutie though - and smart too on top of that. Who knows why she settled for me.

I have a local dealer who sells M4 A3's at gun shows for right around $900. I can't wait to pick one of these up.
