Two brothers who work across the hall came over to my office and I showed em 3 AR's. Two of the AR's have collapsable stocks and flash suppressors etc. They asked is these were legal.LOL. I explained to them the AWB and what was banned and they said "that's it, holy shit, we thought these guns were totally banned". Long story short they are both going to buy AR's and I am hooking them up with the AR15 community. WE HAVE 2 MORE ON OUR SIDE

Good job. You should start your own mulit-level Amway type company and get overrides and kick-backs when someone buys an AR "through" you.

Good work. Getting them to shoot one is usually the clincher. The boltgun/hunter guys at my range are always surprised when they shoot one of my ARs or HK91, I think they are surprised that they can just pick it up and hit stuff right off the bat, I guess they assume that semi automatic guns without scopes aren't accurate. Also I think a lot of them have never used a rifle with relatively good iron sights, just junky ones like the rear v sights on a 30-30

My mom, and friend both said the same thing when I explained the AWB to them.

99% of the problems we have stem from lack of education. How many idiots out there run up credit card balances and get stuck in debt because they didn't know any better. Same goes for guns. I bet anyone 100 dollars that out of a random sample of 100 people on the street that 90 of them would think that an AR or an AK is a machine gun, or label it as an assault weapon (i'm talkin about post bans with less evil). That's the problem. They don't no any better, and what they do know they've learned from the TV tube. The best way WE can get our message out and our point across is to teach others just like the original poster did. Take a friend from work shooting that's never been, teach them the rules, safety, and you can bet that half of those people who become informed will probably want a gun of their own after they've shot off some rounds and had a lot of fun.

First words usually are, "I thought those were illegal." And they look around guiltily like they are about to get arrested.

Then they ask, "Did you convert it to full auto? I heard it was real easy, all you have to do is file the firing pin."

We keep hearing that 68% (or whatever figure, does not matter) of people wanted to keep assault weapons banned. Yeah, maybe so, but I will bet that 80% of people STILL think the AWB was about banning machine guns. The news media and our politicians and police chiefs really tried their best to perpetuate this lie.

Invariably, when I explain what the AWB was really about, show them what features were really banned, they say, "That's stupid! But they said the Assault Weapon Ban was about making machine guns illegal!" They just cannot wrap their minds around the fact that for more than 10 years they were LIED to by the media and politicians. They are stunned.
