Looks like one of those Finnish 20mm Lahtis they used to sell at gun shows in the 80s.
An old anti-armor gun it looks like. Someone has to know around here.

If I recall correctly I saw this on tails of the gun or American Shooter or something..It was the worlds largest rifle intended to be shot by a single person. Anti-tank rifle in WWII or something...
Don't hold me to this... Dan |

That pic screams " Here, hold my beer and watch this" lol
I want one too |

How does a 20 mm compare to a .50 BMG? |
20 / 25.4 = .787" dia as compared to .500" dia --RR |
I believe 50 caliber equals out to 12.7mm or thereabouts. |
UUUU you got to be shitting me right? Its about double in size. All over dims. |
Right, I understand its bigger in diameter, but I was asking in terms of effectiveness. More of a qualitative judgment. Perhaps bigger is better. |
20mm is..............really bad ass and really expensive to shoot |
Cool. |

How did that fit in the Ford Explorer? Seems like it would break the suspension or something... |
Quanto questa? Anyone? |
Just busting your chopps... Last time I looked it was about $40 a round when you could find them. You have to reload on this monster. Power wise it is about double that of the .50 cal.
Like some one once said "You can shoot through schools with this." |
Joe Piscapo, in Johnny Dangerously, about his .88 mangnum. "You shouldn't hang me on a hook, Johnny... My mother hung me on a hook once... ONCE..." |

WOW. Awesome. thanks for the info everyone. I love this site. |

Whats a Binford BFG 2000? Website reference if you know of one. John K. |
half-assed reference to the old show Home Improvement
Binford (company Tim worked for that seems to make EVERY tool known to man) BFG (Big Freakin' Gun) |
HAHAHA. now I remember. I used to love that show. thanks for the laugh |
That's a Lahti and I'm still kicking myself for being too poor to buy one when I still could.
no its the one benicio del toro used in The Way of the Gun.
Got a friend with one of these, it takes a diffrent 20mm than nato, hard to find, He's seeing if it is possiable to convert to nato 20mm, the mag for it makes a nice doorstop!
You tow it behind the Explorer. . . |
Couldn't you buy one in the '60's for like $300 till the GCA '68? I believe I remember seeing an add in some old gun mag for that ad.
Uhhh, no, he used a Galil, a Remington 870 and a 1911. I dont think he used a 20mm Lahti anti-tank gun.... |
where's his BAR for shooting skeet?
What do they go for now? No success on a Google - BG |
I cant remember the price, but someone was selling one in the EE recently. It was mounted on skis. Edit: this guy is asking 10,000: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=118&t=219640 |

If I had that, I would drag it into the gun shop and ask them if they had a case that would fit my rifle.
I've seen a guy shoot his regularly at a MG shoot here in PA...
All I can say is, they are not "spectator friendly"... It makes a .50BMG sound like a firecracker... |
Damn...I KNEW I was missing something.
*reminds self to buy two for bug-out cabin* Should go nice with my .50s. .50s for light skinned vehicles. 20mm ZombieBikers and blue-hatted UNers. |
Couldn't you buy one in the '60's for like $300 till the GCA '68?
yes. a friend of mine bought one for less than $200, back in the day. i have shot the lahti, the boyes in .55" and the 20mm solothurn. so far, the solothurn is the nicest a-t rifle i've got to shoot. the zeiss scope on the solothurn makes it all too easy! they told me the recoil moved me about a foot rearward (prone)...but i hardly noticed and came up grinning from ear to ear, i'm sure! |
Yeah, that's it... and the guy holding it just pulled it out of the sail thingamajiggy... [for the guys that don't know this is sarcasm we all know that the gun used in the Jackal was Polish 20mm Phased Plasma Cannon] |
With double-protection, it'd be like firing a .223 with only muffs. Seriously, you can stand a few feet away from a 120mm when it's fired if you have double. Your stomache, ears, eyes, nose, and general health would be a little off due to the pressure of such a round being fired, but you wouldn't be deaf. |
