It would probably be alright for a rental, but it's not that good a movie... Hot chick, quite a few cool guns, vampires and werewolves, not much else to say...

Some physics that were .... different. Definately need to engauge the suspension of disbelief. Lots of vampires and werewolves. Lots of action. Lots of gunplay. Good enough.

You guys are all dorks, with your nitpicky criticisms!
 It is an AWESOME movie (much better than Van helsin, IMO). Don't rent it - BUY it!! I got the extended version on DVD and it rocks! it would be worth buying if it was nothing by Kate Beckinsale, just standing around in her leather outfit for an hour and a half

I bought Underworld, and will be buying Van Helsing when it comes out on the 19th. |

Good movie or bad you MUST respect the sweet Ms. Beckinsdale for PURPOSELY AND WILLINGLY learning to shoot WITHOUT BLINKING. Very cool!!!

Van Helsing was a horrible horrible movie along the lines of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. A complete bastardization and jumbled conglomoration of different classic stories.

Well I will amend my statement to add that Underworld is 500 times the movie Van Helsing was. Van Helsing was the worst movie I can recall actually paying to see in the theater...

I enjoyed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, except for the chase scene. It was horrible; the effects just looked too much like a video game.

It was okay, about the same level as that zombie movie that was based on a video game. That french werewolf movie last year or the year before was much better.

I thought it sucked.
There i said it. The plot was weak. Character development was absent. Action was unbelievable. And the internal logic was so bad my "suspention of disbelief" could not. Also, I am so sick of all these movies that are coming out of eastern Europe. They all use that same blue lighting. Blade II, Hellboy, Underworld, everytime i see it it pisses me off! But that's just me. RB |

I saw Kate Beckinsdale's boobs. I rented a Brit movie called "Undercover" with a very young (18-yo I hope) Kate and there were a couple scenes where she was topless. The movie was a total bore though.

The full auto pistols that never run out of ammo ruined it for me. Oh yeah, the plot was stupid.

OK, Lumpy, ya' got me ( Mr. Ebert, eh? Good dig.)
But that one scene that they play all the time on the previews where she turns around and shoots through the floor so as to cut a hole to fall through, to escape the WWs coming at her. Maybe possible, but I've tried it and couldn't do it. My downstairs neighbor was kind of surprised at all the noise, but no matter how many rounds i shot i could not get the floor to actually drop in that fashion. When I saw that scene the first time, and every time since, all i can think of is Bugs Bunny, or Pink Panther. Cartoons, Yes. Vamps Vs. WW, no. Buffy The Vampire Slayer has more believable actions/reactions than most anything. One actually FEELS for the characters, and some of them die during the story. (ETA one of the stupidest movies has one of the cutest chicks in it. Showgirls. Still I don't like it. Oh, by the way, does anyone have a copy for sale/trade?) |

i thought it was kind a ho-hum im glad i didn't see on the big screen.
i did enjoy hell boy,the league of extraordinary gentlemen and van helsing though. |
