Got this off INDC Journal
Of course the link is to be left cold:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2473722

Bill at INDC went diving into DU for quotes, so you don't have to.

My anticipation level for Trey Parker and Matt Stone's new puppet movie was already pretty high, but after reading the injured commentary in the DU moonbat forum, it's now at a fever pitch. Here are some excerpted reviews from our favorite irony-impaired members of the proletariat:

** I can't wait for everyone to get pissed off at US... When its seen around the world

** Okay, I laughed in some of it but overall this is a Freepers wet dream. They poke fun at liberals BIG TIME!!!Nothing against ANY rightwingers, ONLY LIBERALS!!! Liberals are the butt of the joke & are even the villians in this.Oh, & all the liberals Die a horrific death in this. TOTALLY bias! I mean, c'mon. How can they NOT have Bush puppet? I mean, he so much a charachter that needs to be mocked. This film was very mean spirited IMO. My firned said I didn't get it. That it was an extreme right wing edge to it & that was the joke. Well, I didn't get that when I saw it. TRUST ME, Freepers will call this film their own & Trey Parker & Matt Stone have sold out BIG TIME!

** I always figured if my hubby's Freeperish bigot family liked the show (edit - South Park, that is) as much as they do, it wasn't anything I wanted to subject myself to. Ditto the movie.

** I'm sorry but any film that tries to paint liberals as traitors is sick

** They should spend the rest of their days in the Denise Miller home for washed up right wing shills.

** South Park is nothing but ugliness and cynicism taken to the 9th degree. The fact that it is funny doesn't make it less amoral.

** It's a propaganda film - the title wants to make closed minded people think America is so good for being "World Police". Oh geez, we're in a lot of trouble.

** I can't believe there are still people who don't realize that the Southpark guys are Republican shills.

** Which kid always dies? The poor kid, whose house is full of rats as a comedy device.

** those guys lost me years ago, when they trashed rain forest preservation & biodiversity. Call me touchy and humorless but I can't get any chuckles out of human caused mass extinction.

** Horrific Labor Practices at South Park

Ha! Something tells me that our "touchy and humorless" friends aren't comparing the "horrific" labor practices of an animation studio in Southern California to the horrific labor practices in, say, a forced labor cotton plantation in northern Cote d'Ivoire. Be careful with those adjectives, children.

Yet in the midst of all this doom and gloom, a brave soul clings to a bright ray of hope:

** could this be so over the top as to make bush look like a puppet ?

That's the spirit! When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: moonbats are one of nature's sublime treasures.

Scylla & Charybdis has a review:

Alec Baldwin is shot by Kim Jong-Il, for being an ineffective terror supporter. Hans Blix is also killed by Kim. Eaten alive by sharks.

Michael Moore is portrayed as a fat socialist double-fisting some hot dogs, with ketchup and mustard running down his face. Of course, he dies. Suicide bomber.

I'm sold. Warning to any of my more conservative readers - before you decide that this movie's for you, beware of the MPAA's rather unique warning:

The Restricted tag warning says the rating is for "graphic, crude and sexual humor, violent images and strong language, all involving puppets."

Read the review at Scylla & Charybdis. The best quote from that is:

All of this, to the stated theme that Americans may be dicks, but liberals are pussies, and terrorists are assholes.

Forgive me, guys, but I've never seen an episode of South Park. Not my style.

Are these guys left, right, libertarian? What?

I expected this movie to be a complete savage of all things good in America, but if it has the Libs in a huff, then it must be good.

WTF happened?

Mostly libertarian, with a strong dislike for liberals. They take plenty of shots at conservatives, but are often brutal to liberals.

There's actually now a media term for it.

"South Park Republicans".

Typically young people who are have  libertarian leaning views and are Republican voters.

The one I liked was the Afghanistan episode of South Park.  The end quote was something like "If you're not going to cheer for the home team, then get the fuck out of the stadium."

OK, here is what frightens me the most about this DU thread:

There is a guy there named "Fat Slob" whose tagline says:

" Some like seven grain bread...I like 147 grain lead. To fellow gun owners: John Kerry is not trying to take our guns, and he's ready to go to war for America. Vote Kerry/'04"

And there is a pic of the awbsunset.com site saying "The AWB is dead - let's make sure it stays that way - Get out and vote!"

WTF?

I love that liberals are fooled into seeing this movie.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone sometimes border on the brilliant in trashing liberals in the South Park show.

They obviously love to do pranks (remember the Cartman's mom episode) and this movie is just that.

Wow, I didn't see this coming. I assumed that that flic was strictly for the lefties.

I guess I will have to watch it aswell. I might even pay for a ticket/rental this time.

Of course you guys probably remember the failed sitcom "Thats My Bush", which was created by the makers of South Park.

Matt was, but we all know how Moore makes his movies, they are propaganda. Moore can change your words into saying something you didnt really say. Matt went to Columbine and I am sure Moore asked him to do an interview about it. Not knowing what kind of propaganda the film was going to be Matt probably said yes.

Nope another one of moore's clever deceptions, the cartoon was made by someone else, but he made you jump to the conclusion that it was trey and matt because he made sure that the animation style was similar.

Check out the trivia on IMDB on it.

The very first footage screened for Paramount executives was of a poorly crafted puppet in front of a background of a badly drawn Eiffel Tower, prompting one executive in the audience to yell. "Oh god, they fucked us!" This was a prank pulled by the directors and the shot then pans over to a beautiful parisian landscape with much better looking puppets.

The movie was originally given a NC-17 Rating by the MPAA. It was reduced to an "R", after a sex scene between two puppets was edited.

WTF.

WTF.

The two puppets have a wild sex scene set, in the version I saw, to Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" — the love theme of Bruckheimer's "Armageddon" — in which full androgynous plastic nudity is unbound. But so are the lovemakers' positions. It's an astounding use of inanimate objects.

The puppet sex scene which we’ve heard much mention of already is indeed over the top, but I think the ratings board proved that they are certifiably insane by giving the film an NC-17 originally. The Gary puppet is hung like a Ken doll. These are the most sexless depictions of sex I can imagine. Yes, they run through a ton of positions, and yes, in the original cut there was scat and golden showers and a pearl necklace, but even so, this is about as far from being an explicit depiction of human sexuality as I can imagine. Cutting the scene back to its current form may have won the guys their R rating, but it’s not like the ratings board won some major victory.

Remember when they had the halloween episode that they had advertised with "Spookyvision" all week long. When the episode finally arrived, Spookyvision was Streisand's photo in each corner of the screen.

Matt and Trey are for the most part equal oppertuinity offenders. i think you guys will find subtle jabs at the right as well, those DU fucks just want to see the negative. They tend to blow stuff way out of preportion and arrive at a common sense conclusion.

the brilliance of southpark is a mildly educated/intelligent person can watch it and see the crafty use of satire, and some close minded moron can watch it and see nothing but potty humor.
