Her name is "Willow" and aside from having a sorta gay name is a great dog. My wife and I took her in Friday with the goal of adopting her from the Siberian Husky Rescue League as a playmate for our German Sheppard who has been nothing but despondant since our other dog died last month.
Well Willow is a great dog but doesn't get along with other dogs and our Sheppard is getting way too old to be dealing with battles of wills from 1 1/2 year old dogs that think they are in charge. They got into it earlier today and that was the end of that. It's my dogs house and she doesn't need to put up with any bullshit.
That said Willow is a wonderful dog for anyone who doesn't already have pets. Completely submissive to me and my wife. Housebroken and knows the basics like sit, stay, paw, lie down, etc. Very affectionate and needs a good home desperately.
She was originally owned by a woman who had a cat. Willow killed the cat, she doesn't get along with and play well with other animals. If you already have a dog or cat (unless it his huge) pass on this dog as you will have problems. The woman was then going to put her down for killing her cat but a neighbor intervened and took the dog in. Then came hurricane Frances so they neighbor gave her up because he had no place to take her (shelters won't take dogs). The Siberian Husky Rescue League took her in and have been looking for a home for her ever since.
www.sibrescue.com/adoptions.aspWillow is the first dog on the list at link.
She is going back to the rescue vet in Ft. Lauderdale monday.
My wife and I are heartbroken because we thought we found a good friend for our Sheppard and would be able to give a dog in need a good home at the same time. The saddest part of all is I can tell Willow has never had it so good and more comfortable than she ever has been in her life and won't leave my side. That pic is of her behind my chair where she has been all night.
Now the rescue league has a bunch of dumb rules (home inspections and referrences needed) but it is worth it. If you have been thinking about or looking for a dog this one is great.
