Its about control. The Dems wanted to put the new governor in between a rock and a hard place. Many bills were passed in the waning hours of this session of the legislature, and many without any debate along purely political lines. Remember he did veto the ammo reg bill and the increased penalities for people who let children access to their guns.

California passed another pointless gun law that does nothing but restrict law-abiding citizens.

What else is new?  I hate this state.

Not flaming you friend, but did you just wake up from a 3 year sleep? We have been fighting this re-occurring legislation for 3 years and it finally made it through the legislature this summer and he signed it a couple weeks ago.

I just saw this news in the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper from yesterday.  Sorry if it's old news to everyone else.

He also....

Vetoed an increase in the minimum wage, saying a higher mandated wage rate would cost some low-skilled workers their jobs.

Rejected a plan to protect California's big utilities from competition, saying he preferred a more nimble, hybrid electricity system that would include traditional utilities and private energy companies.

Rejected a bill to ban state contracts with firms that do the work using overseas employees.

Turned back eight bills promoting the importation of cheap drugs from Canada.

Vetoed one measure that would have required every health-insurance policy to include coverage for maternity care, and another that mandated coverage of hearing aids for children.

Rejected a bill to require local governments to do "economic impact" studies before approving large retail stores.

Vetoed a measure that would have limited the schools' ability to test their students for drugs.

Vetoed another that would have outlawed the use of the name "Redskins" for high school sports teams.

Signed a measure giving local school districts broad new discretion in how they spend the money shipped their way from Sacramento.

Signed two measures to strengthen the rights of same-sex domestic partners and one that will allow drug addicts (or anyone else) to get clean needles without a prescription.

Approved a measure that added protections for transgender individuals to the state's hate crimes and anti-discrimination laws.

Signed a landmark measure creating a Sierra Nevada Conservancy to look after the condition of California's signature mountain range.

Signed bills allowing solo drivers of hybrid cars to drive in car pool lanes and prohibiting the dumping of waste from cruise ships along the coast.

Signed a bill prohibiting commercial tanning salons from serving children under age 14,

Signed a bill phasing out the force-feeding of birds to make the duck-liver delicacy known as foie gras.

Signed a bill requiring every California resident to have a water meter.

Easy doesn't on Sonny. He was a true pro-gun conservative. He was literally the brains behind the Sonny & Cher. Sonny wrote most of the material for the show himself. I had a chance to hear him speak at a fund raiser for Dick Mountjoy, and he is a very intellegent man.
