As long as the lyrics contain no racial epithets, calls for genocide, references to zombie movies etc, you'll probably be fine.

Never heard his stuff. Dug the book Texasville by his dad, though.

Don't read more than one Larry McMurtry book per month.  His stories are so depressing you could commit suicide if you get too much.  I have read almost all of his books and like them very much but I get depressed when I read them.  Leaving Cheyenne is the worst one.
