What's up with the tourists standing around watching it? I would think it is a get-out-of-dodge situation

It's going to be a minor eruption compared to the catastropic one a few years back, at least that is what the USGS has been saying, but who knows.

Well for one thing, there's significantly less mountain mass to explode. Maybe it will just ooze out like it does on the Hawaiian island.

...and stupid. I've been through a few earthquakes in Japan. Not fun.

Sure there's a connection.

Earth is a dynamic system that is always changing.

The earthquakes, MSH and the volcano in Mexico (I assume you mean Popocatépetl) are all products of active plate tectonics.

The Yellowstone hotspot is a product of a mantle plume (or that's the current theory).
