One of mine is.
Adventures of Baron Munchausen. |
Wilder Napalm
A Boy and His Dog. Great science fiction classic. Top Secret |
King Of Marvin Gardens.I`ve seen it a million times.Bruce Dern reminds me of my brother.I used to visit my grandmother near Atlantic City and it looks so real.
Buckaroo Banzai, Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy, Android. Wait, I need some time to think of the others.
+1 for Brazil and Donnie Darko (<--kick ass movie)
I guess mine would be Hackers (1995). Pretty dumb.. and completely out of touch with reality.. never the less.. |
Oooohhh! I was going to say that one too! Let me add 12 Monkeys to the list. Another great one! |
When I was a kid, I was a pretty serious computer geek: programming machine code on early Timex/Sinclair and Commodore computers.
I liked a move called Electric Dreams, which was a nifty "computer gains self awareness" movie that took, er um, a different track from the Terminator and Matrix movies. |
12 monkeys, time bandits, brazil. Terry Gilliam is the king of weird movies. At least his movies make sense and have an actual plot, unlike John Waters for example |
all good so far I'll throw down with a series seven and raise you a raising arizona
has anyone seen series seven? just wondering cause I don't know anyone who has I thought it was funny as hell anyway |
Gross Pointe Blank
Evil Dead 2...Dead by Dawn Zapped, and Zapped 2 Real Genius Sleep Away Camp (and all the sequels) horrible "B" movies, but I like 'em none-the-less and probably a few others that I can't think of right now... |
The Boondock Saints.
A Clock Work Orange. Cowboy Bebop (shows and the movie). Brazil. Evil Dead series. When I was a kid I liked the one where the three kids make a bubble with a computer and use it and a carnival ride car for a space ship? Anybody know the name? |
Wooohoooo!!! More Terry Gilliam!(and Monty Python) ETA: Doh! I'm a dumbass |
[Victor Kruger/The Kurgan] Nuns.....no sense of humor.....[/Victor Kruger/The Kurgan] Great movie! |
SWEET! Big Trouble in Little China.
I swear to god that the guys who programmed the Mortal Combat game stole the Raiden character from that movie! |
+ 1 on all the flics mentioned so far. Looks like we have the same tastes. When Halloween comes around , one of my favorites is Spaced Invaders. For some reason I get a kick out of it. Some others off the top of my head are:
My Science Project The Last Starfighter |
Brazil is good.
Memento Anything by David Lynch, but especially Blue Velvet ("Don't fucking look at me! Fucking fuck fuckers!") and Wild at Heart ("Bobby Peru knows all about fucking") Two REALLY twisted foreign films, I Stand Alone (An over the top French Taxi Driver) and Irreversible (A revenge flick that makes Death Wish seem like Snow White. Also the most blatently homophobic story I've ever seen in a film.) For SHTF afficinados, The Trigger Effect. Shows how yuppies would most likely react to a crisis. Any gunowner will laugh AND cringe at some of the scenes. |
Evil Dead: Army of Darkness
..hail to the King, baby. This is my BOOMSTICK! Good, bad....I'm the guy with the gun |
+1 I got Big Trouble in Little China right in front of me |

When I was a kid I liked the one where the three kids make a bubble with a computer and use it and a carnival ride car for a space ship?
Anybody know the name? I think it was "My science project" . but then there were so many movies that were science class related back then. One of my favorite movies under strange or stupid would be "Runaway" with Tom Selleck a police officer named"Ramsey"and Gene Simmons as the BG. One of Kiersty Alley's first movies. There are more, I just can't think of thier names or the people who starred in them. Take care. |
Final Approach w/ Hector Elizondo and the Swat Guy from Hill Street Blues
And Equilibrium - My brother just got me to watch it and it is awesome. <------------- +1 for Evil Dead 2 |
I just saw the last hour of that movie about a week ago on the tube. IIRC it had Rier Phinex (sp?) in it. plus a few others. Also those big green aliens that learned english from old T.V. shows. I loved it groing up. I do not recall the name of the movie though. |

.... Hehehe
... Here is a list compiled by ARFCOM members on a very similar thread last year ... Although some of the 220 movies were attempts at humor, there are nearly "all" of the DARK MOVIES you could ever want to rent in an MS Excel format |
In no particular order... Snatch, Boondock Saints, Enemy at the Gates, Fight Club, and Pirates of

That's from Spaceballs. My favorite quote from Last Starfighter is: Alex: There's no fleet, no Starfighters, no plan. One ship, you me, and that's it? Grig: Exactly. Xur thinks you're still on Earth. Classic military strategy: surprise attack. Alex: It'll be a slaughter! Grig: That's the spirit! Alex: No, my slaughter! |
It was called "Explorers". I liked it too. I haven't seen it in about a decade. |
