Who here, wears a beard? Why do you prefer to or, if you don't, why don't you?
I am clean shaven. I had started to grow a beard before but it just drove me nuts. It itched like crazy and I felt like I was unhygenic. I'm not saying they are unhygenic - its just an affliction I have from entering the military at a young age and remaining there for a decade. I'm out now and cannot let myself have more than an inch of hair on my head nor any facial hair. I'd like to grow a beard but dang, it just drives me nuts after a few days of not shaving. |

I've had the chin-only goatee since '97, plus I like it better now with my head shaved, I've gotta make up for lost hair somewhere...

I've worn a beard since I was in college, with only a 18 month period between then and now without a beard.
That was almost 30 years ago. And I wouldn't shave it off for the world. It's very easy to take care of, and very manly looking. I have recently trimmed it down to a very short beard, just to take a few 'years' off my appearance! Eric The(Barbarian)Hun |

Goatee.
Most likley would have lost it by now but Mrs. Wedge likes it. |
Hairy face since 1972. I got sick of shaving and grew a Fidel special.
In 1994 or so I trimmed it to a goatee so it would look better whith short hair. The Princess has never seen my chin. Ops |
Mustache since 1967. Used to grow a full beard every fall and shave it every spring. Can't do that now; violates work dress code.
used to grow one at least once a year - then i went off on down the goat road for a few years.
nowadays tho - if i grow a beard, it comes out about as gray as kenny rodgers' - and i'm afraid what i'd do to any of my friends that referred to me as "Hey Gambler!" - so i don't. |
I've heard of people using that hair coloring stuff on their beards before. Maybe that's an option. |
I've had a beard almost continuously since 19. I did shave it off one evening after I was married to surprise Mrs. NMSight - then grew it right back - so it has been on for the last 31 years.
Reason? Well, if I had been coordinated as a young man I may never have had one. My Dad tried in vain to teach me to shave with one of his straight razors but I always looked and felt like a stuck hog. Now I just shave my neck with a so-called safety razor and still manage to cut the crap out of myself. NMSight |

Couldn't grow one to save my life. I wish I could. But, I only shave once a week. If I had a office job I could get away with 2 times a week.
Beard or goatee off and on for 20 years. For my first beard it was 3 weeks before the hair got long enough to where it wouldn't itch. And goatees aren't ball warmers, they're thigh ticklers....
I grew one at about 22, and I've had one ever since.
When it's first growing, it itches like crazy for about a week, then it stops. It's just that certain longer-than-stubble length that itches. Once it grows past that, it stops itching. |
I tried once, but then ended up working part-time in foodservice (and I hate beard guards).
With a mustache, I bear too close a resemblance to a certain unpopular political figure. Mrs B prefers me clean-shaven anyway. |
Yup, tried those too. Couldn't ever find one that didn't grab. |

Beard here. Hate shaving. Wife likes it.
I only shave it when it's really hot out. |
Wish I could. At 31, all I can grow is a goat. My friends say I'm lucky, as I only have to shave twice a week.
Guess it's the indian blood...Choctaw and Cherokee...from both sides of the family. If I could, I'd do it in a heartbeat...ZZ Top style. |
I've had one (full beard) ever since I've been able to grow one.
Shaving is a pain in the ass. I just keep it trimmed up every couple of weeks with my $10 clipper I bought at walmart. I might shave it next year though, just so I can see what I look like without it. |
I did for years, now it is just too white. Now i just have a mustache, but htat may be going as well for the same reason.

Goatee here.
You mean ball scratchers? Don't you have one by the way? |

I have a pet BEARDED CLAM. Does that count? (no really, I do...................)
I call it my "Baldness Deferral Program (aka "Follicular Reallocation Program"). Grew it almost accidentally on a 4-day camping trip 6 or so years ago and everyone with me said I should leave it. I figured why not give it a go and started trimming it (I keep it very close-cropped and tidy). Shaved it entirely off once when the wife and I went to Hawaii about 3 years ago and it just felt weird to be without.

Prove it... |
I don't know where your chin goes, but mine is used to tickle the little guy in the upside down canoe |
Yes......but I usually shave during the summer and start it back in the fall. I have shaved my moustache off maybe three times since high school. I look like I'm about 12 without one.
The goatee craze has simply gotten way out of hand. Combine that with a bald head and it's just plain silly. I can't see one of those guys and not start yelling "stone cold! stone cold!"
One thing is missing from your poll, chops. I usta have some monster chops. |

JUST started. My wife had to have her gallbladder removed. I took a week off of work to be with her and decided not to shave the whole time. I work in a conservative environment and must shave every day.
Because I was far enough along I thought I'd be okay, but at the wife's request, I shaved it down to a goatee and she dug it! I went to work and they dug it, so I'm keepin' it a while. |
Yep. Over 25 years now. I have no idea what I look like without one.
Three words "Just For Men" Great stuff. |
I used to grow one before deer season and then shave it off again when the weather started getting warm. Now I keep it year-round. Every few years I'll get a wild hair (no pun intended) and shave it all off, just to grow it back again. I ALWAYS keep it trimmed nice & neat! (which can be just as much work as shaving clean every day, BTW)

I can't grow facial hair worth a damn...I curse my Sweedish ancestory!
Yep, though why it should be of interest is beyond me.
Long mustache, Duane Allman Memorial chin hairs. Actually it is a little more 19th century these days. Of and on since high school, longer ago than I would care to mention. Had my first "clear" beard back then. My brother used to tell me to wipe the milk off my lip. Only cut the memorial once though. Grew it right back. Haircut too these days. Six years of growth gone on the wall with four other braided tails. Nice to have. When my hair is short I can convince people I chased hippies down and removed their hair. Soon they will head off for folks to use that have had chemo. |

1. I have heard the moustache + goatee ("soul patch") + vandyke (chin beard) combo referred to as a "San Francisco Bulleye."
2. Has anybody else noticed that if you answer enough of these inquiries (DOES YOUR WIFE SHAVE? DO YOU DRIVE AN AMERICAN CAR? BOXERS OR BRIEFS? GRADUATE DEGREE? WHAT'S THE BEST COLOR FOR A TOOLBOX? DO YOU SMOKE? YOUR CAR: FWD OR RWD? FAT GIRLS: YES OR NO? HAT/BALLCAP/ZIPLOCK BAGGIE? VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE HEADWEAR!! MONKEY/ MACAQUE/TRUE APE: WHAT NONHUMAN PRIMATE IS BEST?) a blind man could pick you out of a lineup? |
Now I'm glad I only vote in the polls. |
Yeah, I figured you for a faggot the first time that I saw your picture. |
