Exactly what the title says. Please no breed vs. mutt arguments. If you like mutts, explain what combination you like best.
My favorite is the Alaskan Malamute. Rascal pulls my ammo! |

Berneese Mountain Dog..... after that Great Pyrenees (my two dogs now)
If I was going to get a dog and I lived alone- needed a dog to look after the property: Kuvaz.... best damn dogs out there -Roth |

Hmm. Not sure, really. The only dog I've ever had is my current Golden Retriever, but she's dumb as a brick. Cute doggie, though, and sweet except when she steps on your feet or claws your arm.

Never been much into dogs, I have seen a few good ones though. I dont care for dalmations or chows though.

For me, it's the bullmastiff without a doubt. Those dogs just have a personality that's all their own. And damn they are intelligent. Plus, they make good watch dogs as well, but they aren't quite so aggressive or as unstable as pit bulls. I'll never have another dog besides the bullmastiff.

In the pic, probably about 4. She is about 5 1/2 now. The Hound in her is making her more lazy these days, as she will spend the majority of her time in a little dog-loo made out of blankets and comforters on the bed. But isn't she the cutest, most adorable, most benevolent looking world dictator you have ever seen? |

English Springer Spaniel. We're on our third one and really enjoy the breed.
I stick to wolf hybrids. Fun dogs to talk to. You just have to love the howl.
Basset Hound, although I preffer my Blue Front Amazon (Elwood) to any dog any day. He's a hell of alot smarter than any dog I've ever known.

What part of TN are you in. I live in Asheville, NC. I have a friend who I work with that has a rehabilitation center for wolfs, and wolf mixes. He has about 26 last I saw. If your near the NC boarder, I'm sure he'd be happy to show it to you. He just asks for donations because he doesn't have any state or fedral funding. |

pitbulls.
My current dog is half pit half english bulldog. I love her to death, but I wouldn't go for that combo again. All of her health issues can be traced back to the english bulldog side. Eventually if I have a place with enough room I'd like a blue heeler. I think the herding dogs like that are great companions. I would never get one of the large purebreds (rotts, bullmastifs, mastifs, etc.) as they just have too many health problems. It sucks to see your pal and sidekick in pain or getting sick. |
Border collie, without a doubt. I love 'em. |
Chows.
Currently I have Leo and Sister both five years old. Not a dog most people should have but if you're willing to excercise patience, very rewarding. An intensely loyal breed. 5sub |

Golden Retreivers - great family dogs and they hunt too! Have owned many different breeds over the years - would never own anything else now.

Heelers are great dogs! (Did you know they are born white?) If you decide to get one, find sombody down there...should be quite a few in the middle of the state cattle belt...who is using them for work and get a pup from them. Better health, smarter, and all 'round a better dog. Understand, though, that a working line dog will have lots of "drive" (energy) and needs a "job". Either you give him one or he finds his own...and you ain't gonna like the one HE chooses! (Like remodeling your back yard or maybe the sofa and chairs! Hee hee.) |

I am shocked no one has chosen the greatest breed in the world, The Black Lab
German Shepard, most well rounded dog available IMO. My close second would be a husky/malimute (sp?)
S.O. |
Beagle, I need to get some of my pics hosted. I have 4 fine rabbit hounds at home. Cant beat the breed for a all around dog.
Dale |
English Mastiff; although my current Husky/ rottie mix isn't bad.

Red X |

Brittany.
Great family dog and weekend hunter. My female is a great squirrel dog. |
Spaniels,I have a definate soft spot. We have 1 Springer who is now enjoying his retirement years and 3 cockers. Although my brother has a blue heeler that I could be persueded with. He is a sweetheart. Eventually we want smaller dogs,I am looking at Cavaliers as a possibility.
I have a Husky right now and they are great dogs but push come to shove I think a German shepherd will always be my favorite.

That's not the way posting a pic works. You can't link to your hard drive. |

Hard question for I've had many and liked them all.
Best dog I ever had was an Akita which recently died. Now have a Beagle and new Jack Russell puppy. I'm hoping ot survive the Jack Russells puppy stage. Tj |

Sgtar15 (Sorry ! I know he is a mutt. ) |

Another vote for the Heeler....Damn fine companion and smart as a whip... |

Jack Russel Terrier
Extremely intelligent little suckers with a ton of personality. |

Am I the only one who turned into a little girl when I saw that pic and went "AWWWWWW!"?? |
I have a black lab and a golden retreiver and love them both.
