I'll bet any problems this womans baby has due to the sounds of Jackhammers, are very similar to those found in babies who's mother smokes cigs.

Believe it or not, alot of doctors are telling women it's "OK" to smoke 3-5 cigs a day!
I can't believe a mom would be so selfish to even test the waters with something like this. My wife's cousins friend smoked about 5 cigs a day while she was pregnant"doc said it was OK", the kid is 2 years old and still hasn't said a word.  I'd never hit a women but if my wife decided to smoke while pregnant cause doc "said she could", I think a backhand would be in order.(Or a divorce) |

My next door neighbors 19 y/o daughter just gave birth to a 1 month premature baby, she smokes at least a pack a day. Her 16 y/o sister is due in December, but it won't go full term either, she smokes even more than a pack a day.

There is nothing I can stand more than a pregnant mother harming her unborn child. That woman is no more than a hypocritical POS.
The really sad thing is when the baby is born with medical problems, and she gets some form of government aid to pay for med expenses, she'll probably use it to buy more booze and cigs.

I hate bing in VA, NC, and SC when it comes to find a truckstop to eat dinner at. I had this conversation in a NC truckstop. Me (to waitress) "Excuse me, M'am. Where is your NON-smoking section?" Watiress "South Carolina." Needless to say, I left without spending a dime and ate spagetti O's in the truck. I respect folks' choice to smoke. But dammit, if you want my $$$ you better give me clean air to breath.

Back up the f*cking truck! I've never heard of a doctor saying that it was "OK" to smoke to anyone! One cigarette or 2 ppd, it doesn't matter. What is more likely is a doctor saying something to the effect that 'there is a recent study that indicates there is no statistical decrease in birth weight in those women who smoke 5 cigarettes a day or less' when directly asked about the risk of smoking by the pregnant patient. A doctor may also say that smoking a Cuban a couple of times a month is unlikely to produce any significant risk to your health. I would be shocked if the doctor actually said that it was "OK" to smoke 3-5 cigs per day, although that's what a person may repeat when asked what the doctor said about their smoking while pregnant. I ask all of my patients if they smoke and never miss an opportunity to offer smoking cessation aids such as the patch, etc. It is my duty to help them quit if they choose to do so. Good for you that you wouldn't let your wife smoke. It would be your baby too and there is simply too much at risk to take any chances. I believe that people have the right to smoke as long as they don't force others to inhale 2nd hand smoke. |
