I'm actually OK with that as long as we get to vote FOR two term, term limits on Senators and Reprentatives in November.

WE NEED TERM LIMITS!

I'm with you on that, we need to get rid of career politicians like Kerry, Schumer, and Feinswien

Why is it they can double their salary in ten years, but the DOC can't raise my father one stinkin' paygrade?

I would gladly agree to pay them $10 million each per year if they would promise to stay home.  Just think how much money we would save if they stayed away from D.C.

I'm not sure that really matters. From what I understand they continue to get paid even out of office, or that might be Congress. All you need is one day in.

In 2003 they were making $155k a year. Now it's at least $159K, plus all the "side jobs".

Fuggin crooks.

Thats not much when you think about it.  Executives make 100x that amount.  These people, good and bad, decide our countries fate so isn't that worth 160k a year?

Who does more for their pay?  Derek Jeter or Larry Craig?

Executives and Mr Jeter don't suck their paycheck out of my taxes.

Elected officials have no more right to my tax dollars than the clerks at the DMV.  160k/year for what?

Don't you all get annual 4% raises? I know I get at least that much to make up for inflation $4000 sounds reasonable to me.

I've always said.

I can't understand these people spending ( hundered of thousands at lower levels, 100's of million in national) to win a job that pay almost nothing. Influence to their own pockets and greed is why they are there.

I can't remember a time when they voted on a pay raise, they didn't take it.

It makes me ill. :puke:

Of course this assumes that 150K+ is "reasonable" base pay.

+1 yeah really, do you guys expect the best in our congressman and senators if yes then why not pay them good money.  Most of the people serving in congress could make double that on the outside but they've decided to serve the people and they should be well compensated for it.
