I am putting the ultimak scout rail on an AK and would like scope suggestions... (magnified or red dot, I don't care - but of course agnified would have to be scout scopes with LER.)

If you go magnified go Leupold. I had bad luck with Burris.

I'm looking for a scope for my AK47 too, but I need to get hubcaps for my tractor first.

I'd strongly recommend a Kobra red-dot sight - preferably, one that takes AA cells. They're fairly rugged, don't require a separate mount, and hold zero after take-off and reinstallation.

Tantal is a good source for them – great service.

skibane -
I have no siderail.  just got my preban norinco 56s.
flatfender -
FUNNY - but my AK is a really really nice tractor.  1989 imported into my banned state, unfired since, beautiful wood, unreal quality.....  not really your momma's tractor here.

Adding the side rail is easy, I did it to my SA85M.  The PK-AS is nice.  And alot of people like the Kobras.

don't wanna add siderail.....
I got the ultimak scout rail for a reason..... I like where it is.  I think AK siderails are too close....at least for me, that is.

Why don't you goto the AK forum, you know the other side of the house.

btw, i've seen tapco carry some of options for a scope or red dot sight for the ak.

I'm a big fine of the dark side, but there are SOOO many people who don't peruse it.

If you don't want to go with a side rail, B Square makes a good receiver scope mount. You push through the trigger and hammer pins with their threaded pins.  The mount screws on and off pretty quick and it's solid. I've used a few different scopes on mine, but I think an aimpoint or something similar might be better.

Just a personal opinion, but putting an expensive scope on an AK is like putting earrings on a hog.

I have a buddy that has a 8X42 Russian Military scope on his AK.  He likes it but has never sighted it in

It looks cool at least

Naw, a stock AK with garbage Wolf ammo is still twice as accurate.
